Chapter 463: Focus

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

Just then, a rush of hurried footsteps came from downstairs.

"Xiaoxiao! There's an attacker, quick! Come with me to somewhere safe—huh?"

Ye Min was rushing upstairs while speaking urgently, but when she saw Nie Yun standing next to Chu Xiaoxiao, she froze in her tracks.

"Nie Yun? What are you doing here?"

As Chu Xiaoxiao’s personal bodyguard, how had she not noticed a living person sneaking onto the balcony? This was a major dereliction of duty!

But climbing up a young lady’s balcony in the middle of the night—how inappropriate is that?

Don’t tell me young people these days actually like playing out the whole Romeo and Juliet scenario?

Wait, no! Is this really the time to be worrying about that?

“Quick! Both of you, come with me!” Ye Min moved quickly to grab Chu Xiaoxiao.

But Chu Xiaoxiao remained calm. She turned to Nie Yun. “What about my mom?”

Since something had happened here, there was no guarantee the attackers wouldn’t target Chu Feng as well.

“Don’t worry, she’s still on the plane returning from her business trip. I’ve already dispatched a squadron of fighter jets to escort her the whole way,” Nie Yun replied.

Ye Min was caught off guard by their calm conversation and instinctively stopped moving.

What... is going on?

Chu Xiaoxiao let out a sigh of relief. “So what’s your plan for dealing with these people?”

Nie Yun smiled meaningfully. “Naturally… we’ll cast a long line to catch a big fish.”

“Ding ding ding!” A series of bullets struck the attackers, but only sparked off their powered armor.

A dozen attackers stormed into the Chu villa like a hot knife through butter. Apart from a few suits of armor being destroyed by the villa’s heavy firepower, their losses were minimal.

Although the dozens of bodyguards were elite special forces, they were overwhelmed by the attackers’ superior gear and forced to retreat step by step.

The attackers, taking advantage of their strength and durability, smashed through walls as they charged straight toward the villa where Chu Xiaoxiao was.

Just as they were about to break in, six silver-gray robots lined up in front of them.

“Hostile targets detected. Combat mode activated!”

“Hiss! Hiss!” The six robots raised their heads in unison, blue lights glowing in their eyes—indicating the operators were now fully logged in.

“It’s Type-I Mecha Police! Execute Plan D!” the leading attacker recognized the combat machines and immediately shouted to his companions.

The Type-I Mecha Police was a newly developed mass-produced military-grade intelligent robot from Zhonghua (China).

It incorporated a range of cutting-edge technologies that Zhonghua had recently mastered, including high-strength lightweight titanium alloy, miniaturized powertrains, light laser weapon systems, and compact nuclear batteries.

More notably, it was linked to the “Ghost Captain” virtual reality network, allowing remote manual control via VR helmets. This compensated for the limitations in AI, essentially functioning as a scaled-up, lower-spec version of the “Little Wolf Basic Model.”

In a recent public bidding event on Atlantis Island, this new robot outperformed the traditional military tech from major powers. Thanks to its outstanding combat performance and exceptional cost-effectiveness, the Atlantis Corporation placed an order for 5,000 units for security use.

Though other nations considered it suitable for full military deployment, in Atlantis it was designated merely for regular security duties at a standard guard level. Even so, being selected over competitors from around the globe was a testament to the robot’s combat capabilities.

The mass production of such advanced robotic soldiers was made possible in large part thanks to several high-precision industrial mother machines provided by Nie Yun. These machines greatly improved Zhonghua’s manufacturing accuracy.

Through several collaborations with Nie Yun, Zhonghua had already reaped major benefits. Coupled with frequent special support from figures like Old Ye, and backed by a vast research community and complete R&D system, Zhonghua’s technological development across various fields had advanced by leaps and bounds.

Especially in key sectors like quantum computing, drones, and intelligent robotics, Zhonghua had achieved remarkable results. The Type-I Mecha Police was just one of many examples of recent breakthroughs.

However, turning technology into tangible products takes time. The mass production of the Mecha Police couldn't keep pace with the rapid technological explosion. Monthly output was only a few hundred units. Though production lines were expanding, even meeting existing domestic and Atlantis orders was projected to take until next year—let alone the flood of international demand.

These six top-of-the-line mecha units had not yet been widely deployed, making their appearance at the Chu family villa undoubtedly the last line of defense Zhonghua had arranged for Chu Xiaoxiao and her mother.

Thud! Thud! The six Mecha Police units advanced toward the attackers with heavy, booming footsteps, their weapons beginning to glow as they charged.

Though their movements had a distinctly mechanical stiffness and lacked the agility of the Little Wolf models, their synchronized action created an overwhelming sense of force, like a tidal wave bearing down.

Mecha Police vs. Powered Armor!

The two sides collided with a deafening crash and fell into chaotic melee combat. The battle intensified further.

Dense streams of bullets and energy beams crisscrossed through the air, while the clash of metal against metal echoed loudly.

The Mecha Police fought without fear of damage, while the attackers were equally fearless and relentless. As the battle progressed, it devolved into brutal close-quarters combat with bayonets and fists.

Sparks, broken parts, and blood flew in all directions, painting a picture of a battlefield both epic and gruesome.

The intensity of the upgraded fight rendered the lightly armored bodyguards completely useless. To enter a battlefield like this with nothing but flesh and body armor was suicide—a literal leap into a meat grinder. Even stray bullets alone could shred them to pieces.

“Damn! This is savage! In a few more years, there might not be any place left for us on the battlefield!”

Hiding behind cover, the bodyguards watched the fierce exchange with trembling hearts, a creeping sense of obsolescence gnawing at them.

The battle continued—and was rapidly advancing toward the villa where Chu Xiaoxiao was located.

Though the Mecha Police had the technological edge, they were still cost-sensitive mass-production models.

The attackers, however, were clearly equipped with undisclosed experimental gear. In terms of individual combat capability, the two sides were evenly matched.

At this point, the attackers' numerical advantage became painfully obvious!

They had clearly anticipated the defensive strength inside the Chu family villa. At this point, a portion of the attackers stayed behind to hold off the resistance, while the rest took advantage of the chaos to break through the defense line and charge toward Chu Xiaoxiao's villa.

The Mecha Police tried to stop them, but were ultimately outnumbered.

Finally, three or four of the attackers smashed through the walls and stormed into the interior of the villa!

Once inside, they quickly split up to search for the target, but unlike earlier, they refrained from wanton destruction or open fire.

It was clear that killing Chu Xiaoxiao was not their goal—doing so would only enrage the Ghost Captain and gain them nothing.

Though the villa covered 300 to 400 square meters, finding a person inside wasn’t difficult.

Soon, one of the attackers located the target!

Ye Min, still pulling along a panicked Chu Xiaoxiao, had just descended the stairs when they ran straight into a powered armored enemy.

“Xiaoxiao! Run!” Ye Min’s face changed dramatically as she raised her gun and fired.

Ding ding! The 5.56mm bullets bounced harmlessly off the attacker’s armor. Ye Min, determined, charged forward anyway.

“Overestimating yourself!” The attacker showed no mercy—he raised his hand and swatted at her.

Bang! Ye Min was sent flying, smashing through a nearby door!

Crash! Splinters flew as she tumbled into the darkened room beyond.

The attacker sneered and turned toward Chu Xiaoxiao.

A human body struck by that kind of force would, if not dead, at least suffer full-body compound fractures. There was no need to "finish the job."

What he didn’t notice was that, despite the brutal impact, there wasn’t a single drop of blood at the scene…

By now, Chu Xiaoxiao had already taken advantage of the moment to run. But just as she was about to reach the front door, a man blocked her path.

“Good evening, Miss Chu.”

It was the seemingly honest-faced repairman!

His hawk-like eyes scanned Chu Xiaoxiao’s face carefully. Once he confirmed her identity, he gracefully offered a gentleman’s bow.

“Miss Chu, my master invites you as a guest. Please, come with us. Heh…”

Moments later, a dark silhouette shot into the sky above the Chu estate. In the glow of nearby flames, one could faintly make out a figure wearing a flight pack—and below him, Chu Xiaoxiao’s white dress stood out starkly in the night.

At the same time, the remaining attackers, as if receiving a signal, began retreating en masse.

“No! Miss Chu’s been kidnapped!”

The bodyguards turned pale at the sight. Many raised their guns, but none dared fire for fear of harming her.

The bodyguard captain, having finally regained consciousness, limped to the center of the battlefield with help, just in time to see Chu Xiaoxiao being taken. His eyes widened with fury.

“Damn it!”

He knew… this was very bad.

“Quick! Contact headquarters—deploy all aerial units! Stop them by any means necessary!” he shouted hoarsely.

Though he didn’t know Chu Xiaoxiao’s exact identity, General Hu had made it clear—if anything happened to her, the resulting catastrophe would be of cosmic proportions. A third world war wouldn’t be out of the question.

And judging from General Hu’s expression back then… he wasn’t joking.

Amid the chaos and confusion, a girl in a white dress calmly walked out from the ruined villa…

She looked up at the sky, watching the direction “Chu Xiaoxiao” had disappeared, a look of disbelief still on her face.

But it wasn’t because the Ghost Captain had just pulled off a live-action reenactment of a "T-1000 transforming into a beautiful girl" right in front of her. No, it was because…

“He… he actually cross-dressed… without even blushing?!”

Mechanical Bug: “…” ( ̄△ ̄;)

Nie Yun: “…”

Hey! Is that really what you’re focusing on right now, you airhead?!

TL Note- Female Nie Yun?
