Chapter 4-Marin and Gown

(TL:By Rafael)

"Okay, Marin. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Father. ......"

The young Marin was surrounded by adults.

Her father, Kaon Cinderius, was particularly strict with her, constantly reprimanding her. Marin's feelings toward Kaon are nothing but fear.

He is a being that must not be defied.

If she did, she might endanger her own life.

"You're smart, you know. You won't end up like that stupid Gown, will you?"(Koun)

 "Yes.........."(Marin)

Kaon, my father, mentioned my uncle's name many times.

I was told that he had already been disinherited and was no longer related to the Sindelius family. But even so, Kaon and his relatives seemed to regard all of Gown's actions as a stain on the family. At every turn, they blame Gown for the current predicament of the Cinderius family.

He would disparage the name of his uncle, who was not present.

"Marin - oh, my dear daughter. You just have to do as I tell you."(Koun)

For a change, Kaon speaks in a voice disguised as kindness.

Even though he gave her chills, Marin nodded quietly.

And then she repeats the same words again.

"Yes, father."(Marin)

"That's my uncle, Gown Orzhar."(Marin)

Marin muttered as she lay down on the bed alone in the guest room.

It never occurred to her that Maki's father was her uncle, whom she had heard stories about since childhood. From the way he reacted, it seemed that he too was aware of Marin's true identity. I spent the rest of the day pretending to be calm, and now I'm here.

"He's not as arrogant as I've heard. ......"(Marin)

she sat up and looked at the moon outside the window.

The moon is full. It seemed to represent the current Gown.

And when Marin was about to take a breath...

"I'm sorry. Can I talk to you for a moment?"

"......!"(Marin)

She heard his voice through the door.

She was somewhat nervous, but Marin also braced herself. In her mind, she was reminded of the many abusive words that her relatives had uttered.

I mustn't let my guard down.

Marin swallowed her spit and thought about it.

"Yes, although you can't  come inside the room."(Marin)

"Haha, ....... That's fine, thanks."(Gown)

So she returned with the utmost caution.

Gown, to her surprise, gave a small smile and then thanked her.

"What do you want, ............?"(Marin)

Marin asked, feeling uncomfortable about this.

When Gown heard her question, he scoffed.

"No, you know, ....... I wanted to apologize for all the trouble I must have caused you. Kaon was an inflexible bastard, wasn't he?"(Gown)

"..................."(Marin)

It was, but at the same time felt warm and colorful.

Not so much in the way he said it, but there was also some concern for Marin. The girl was silent for a while and then gave a nasty answer as if testing him.

"Yes, very much. You know how much pain I've been in. ......"(Marin)

"I see. I'm really sorry about that."(Gown)

Gown then let out a heartfelt sigh of depression.

But then he quickly changed his mind.

"Thank you for being friends with Maki at ----."(Gown)

Marin gulped when she heard that, thinking that maybe this person was not who she thought he was.

She tried to confirm this, but before she could do so, Gown left.

"It's late, then. See you tomorrow."(Gown)

"Oh, that ......!"(Marin)

There was no time to stop him.

By the time Marin stood up, the presence was already gone.

"............ Wait, what?"(Marin)

She was left alone, slumped over and shaking her fist.

But the events of that day were deeply engraved in her heart.
