Super Mothership
While the main fleet of the Ghost Pirates headed off to deal with the Debt Collection Alliance, the distance between the Karon Legion and the lone warship was rapidly closing.
"Prepare the World-King Cannon. First shot: three-times standard energy compression ratio. Test firing!" Nie Yun ordered.
"Buzz!" A multitude of points of light converged around the warship's main cannon. Even the mithril barrel began to glow faintly red under the tremendous energy coursing through it.
Five seconds later, a brilliant white beam carrying astonishing amounts of energy particles shot toward the Karon Beast at the core of the legion, aiming directly at Karon's true body!
Everyone outside who had been closely watching the situation was startled.
No one had expected the Ghost Pirates' flagship—the ship that seemingly looked as though it had come here to die—to be the first to launch an attack.
"Warning! Warning! A Level-7 high-energy weapon attack has been detected. Estimated arrival time: seven seconds!"
"What?!" Karon's eyes narrowed immediately when he heard the shrill warning from the high-energy detection radar.
The enemy hadn't even entered their firing range, yet they had already opened fire?
And the energy level had actually reached an astonishing Level 7?
Could it be that this seemingly small flagship was equipped with a fortress cannon?
Although Karon was somewhat surprised by the flagship's firepower, his reaction speed was not slow in the slightest.
Layers of dense bone armor, each more than five meters thick and possessing a strength comparable to superalloys, rose like fish scales, forming shield-like barriers in front of Karon.
That wasn't all.
Large quantities of red fluid began to surge from the pores surrounding Karon's body.
In an instant, the fluid rapidly solidified at the low temperature, completely encasing Karon's entire body like amber.
At that moment, the Leviathan looked as though a red crystal had been embedded in the center of its forehead.
This was the Karon Beast's method of defending against attacks...
Face them head-on!
"BOOM!" Almost immediately after Karon completed his defensive stance, Nie Yun's main cannon attack slammed into the first layer of armor. The bone armor, whose defensive strength was no weaker than superalloy plating, was almost instantly melted through.
Then came the second layer.
The third.
The beam continued forward with unstoppable momentum, piercing through more than a hundred layers of ultra-hard armor, each half a meter thick.
Although the beam's radiance had become extremely dim by then, it still stubbornly struck the red, amber-like crystal!
"Hiss!" The amber crystal directly exposed to the attack vaporized under the extreme heat.
However, once the energy beam entered the crystal, it was as though it had been fired into a kaleidoscope. It scattered at an unbelievable speed.

A tiny warship like this could actually unleash firepower comparable to that of a massive fortress cannon?!

He admitted that if he had been careless just now, the enemy might really have succeeded.

This was the terrifying strength of the Leviathan.
Otherwise, it could never have been treated as such a rare synthetic beast and brought into a laboratory for study.
Its enormous size did indeed give the Karon Beast obvious disadvantages in terms of flexibility and mobility.
Even though a considerable number of auxiliary propulsion devices had been installed on its body, the instantaneous acceleration they could provide was still nowhere near that of a nimble warship when compared to its enormous size and mass.
A few seconds of reaction time was nowhere near enough for the massive Karon Beast to perform even ten centimeters of effective evasive movement.
With its enormous exposed surface area and extremely poor evasion capabilities, the Karon Beast had only one way to deal with light-speed attacks on the battlefield:
Face them head-on!
Considering its enormous energy consumption, installing an energy shield capable of covering such a gigantic body was impractical.
However, the Karon Beast's own physical defenses and rapid regenerative abilities made up for this weakness.
A tank doesn't need to move faster than an aircraft.
As long as its armor is thick enough and its firepower is powerful enough, it can still become the main weapon on the battlefield!

It was said that an expedition team from the Woolf Empire had once captured a spectacular scene of thousands of Leviathans spreading their fins and cruising through a star system. The footage was eventually added to the Imperial Royal Museum's collection.
So, aside from being insatiable gluttons, these creatures were actually a romantic species that "surfed on solar winds."
However, the Karon Beast in front of them had this inefficient propulsion organ removed during its modification process because of practical combat requirements.
The Leviathan's second method of propulsion was...
The waste-excretion outlet at the end of its body!

This was a miraculous creature capable of traveling through space using "exhaust emissions" and "physiological detoxification."
