Super Mothership
“Bang! Boom! Clang!”
Close combat and ranged attacks alternated; beams and blades danced together. Under Nie Yun’s precise control, the Sea Tempest-class mecha relentlessly pushed the two enemy bronze mechs to their performance limits.
Apparently, that still wasn’t enough for him—one more beam blast expanded the attack range, engulfing yet another enemy mech.
In the end, it became one against three, while the lone allied mech could only stand there, dumbfounded, watching the bizarre spectacle unfold.
Effortless!
That was the unanimous impression of all who witnessed the fight.
Although Nie Yun’s side was the one being besieged, and his mech didn’t even have an overwhelming performance advantage, his flawless and masterful control completely dominated the battlefield, leaving everyone present in awe.
Both sides were piloting specialized mechs designed mainly for mid-to-close-range combat. The ferocity of the battle far exceeded that of typical space engagements, and the sheer intensity had everyone’s hearts pounding.
What truly stunned the onlookers, however, was that despite such a deadly clash—where a single misstep could mean total destruction—dozens of rounds passed without a single casualty.
Nie Yun, of course, was holding back a bit. This time, going against his usual low-profile nature, he’d taken the field personally—partly to collect more data on enemy weapons.
By habit, whenever facing a new civilization, Nie Yun’s first instinct was to evaluate its technological capability—to determine whether it was a worthy target for assimilation.
On the other hand, after being singled out and mocked by his superior in public, Nie Yun was not the type to simply take it lying down.
Given the inherently hostile political stance between the two sides, peaceful coexistence was out of the question.
Staying low-key would solve nothing; constant retreat would only invite contempt. Since that was the case—perhaps it was time to revise his “quietly get rich” plan a little…
The three enemy mechs unleashed everything they had, but to no avail. Instead, they were toyed with—slashed and battered until their armor was a patchwork of fresh wounds.
Even the dullest among them now understood—they were completely outmatched. Their attacks faltered, hesitation set in, and the will to fight began to waver.
Nie Yun noticed the shift and smirked. Finally, he stopped holding back. His assault intensified instantly!
“Boom! Boom!”
Two fiery explosions blossomed in the void!
The last remaining enemy mech panicked, terrified out of its wits, and tried to flee.
While the bronze mechs were technically faster than the Sea Tempest-class, Nie Yun had already predicted its movements. He’d preemptively accelerated, using his higher initial velocity to close the distance—then unleashed a flurry of rapid sword strikes!
“Clang! Clang! Clang! Slash! Slash!”
Despite the Wolf Civilization pilot’s desperate defense, the massive difference in power made it utterly futile…
In a shower of dazzling sparks, two steel arms—still clutching their blades—were severed and sent spinning into space!
In the next instant, the gleaming sword tip rapidly filled the Wolf pilot’s view—
“No—!”
Spartacus let out a cry of despair.
What was supposed to be an easy pursuit mission—who could have guessed they’d encounter a monster like this?
This strength… it was easily at Silver-class—maybe even higher!
Weren’t they told this civilization’s individual combat power was pathetically weak? That even their elites barely reached Bronze-class levels?
Was the universe really so cruel that he had to stumble into one of their top-tier aces?
So unfair!
He had just passed his trial and been promoted to Bronze Warrior. His village would finally be exempt from heavy taxes—everything was finally looking up…
A familiar, beloved face flashed through his mind.
So unwilling… so bitter!
And yet—the killing blow never came.
The sword, gleaming coldly before his eyes, instead receded farther and farther away…
Spartacus stared blankly as the crimson-gold mech—so fearsomely powerful moments ago—drifted off into the distance.
What… what was happening?!
“Ah, seems the propulsion system’s acting up again. Of all times… seriously, what a pain…”
A lazy, almost casual voice muttered as if to itself.
“Pff! Pfft!”
As if to prove him right, the Sea Tempest’s rear thrusters sputtered twice—then went completely dead.
I… survived?
Staring blankly at the scene before him, Spartacus could hardly believe that the goddess of fortune would favor him so mercifully.
But years of battle-hardened instinct kicked in instantly—before his mind even caught up, his body was already reacting!
“Boom!”
A fierce jet of flame burst from his thrusters as the armless bronze mech, without a moment’s hesitation, fled at full speed for its life!
Run! Just run!
Even though that demonic mech seemed to have lost its mobility, Spartacus didn’t have the slightest courage to turn back. Every fiber of his being screamed that to look back… would be to die!
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!”
Nie Yun fired a few casual shots in his direction, each grazing dangerously close to Spartacus’s mech—yet somehow, they all “missed.”
Only after escaping the range of Nie Yun’s attacks did Spartacus dare to glance back, cold sweat soaking his forehead.
That golden-red figure still stood silently in the void. For some reason, the expressionless steel mask gave him the uncanny illusion that it was smiling faintly… watching him go.
A chill ran down his spine. Spartacus didn’t dare linger for even a second longer—he turned and accelerated at full throttle toward the wormhole!
Though his mech had lost both arms and flew a bit unsteadily, its mobility was still largely intact. With luck, it would be enough to get him off the battlefield alive.
What Spartacus didn’t notice, however, was that the severed stumps of his mech’s arms had been tainted with a faint silvery sheen—one that quickly vanished without a trace…
“Hmm… maybe I went a little too hard on him. Don’t disappoint me now, hehe…”
Nie Yun watched with a grin as Spartacus’s mech dwindled into a faint sparkle of starlight.
Just then, an internal communication channel opened.
“Um… sir, it seems your mech’s engine has malfunctioned. Shall I provide assistance?”
A slightly respectful voice came through.
Nie Yun turned his head—it was the “ally” mech he’d saved earlier.
“Oh, it’s fine. Probably just needs some lubricant. But as for you—if you don’t leave now, I won’t be saving you a second time.”
Tossing the words out lightly, Nie Yun casually piloted his mech back toward the Fallen Angel. There wasn’t the slightest sign of any “engine malfunction.”
What? Needs… lubricant?
Wait—what did he mean by that last sentence?!
The pilot froze for a moment—then turned around, only to see—
“Boom!”
He slammed his throttle to the max and tore after Nie Yun at full speed!
Behind them, hundreds of spatial vortices suddenly erupted in the void, spewing out enemy mechs in a raging swarm!
Almost tailing the retreating Gemini fleet, the Wolf Civilization had launched a fierce counterattack!
The scene that followed could only be described as chaos.
Taking advantage of the confusion, the Wolf Civilization’s mech units successfully tore open multiple gaps in the Gemini defensive line.
However, it soon became clear that the Wolf forces had underestimated the complexity of the battlefield. After the first ferocious assault, their lack of follow-up strength quickly became apparent.
In the end, after devouring part of the routed fleet and expanding their gains, the Wolf Civilization chose to retreat of their own accord—
Leaving behind nothing but a devastated battlefield…
