The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet

Chapter 381: The Wolf Tribe

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

Similar to the Cat-Spirit tribe, the most powerful species with wolf ears and a tail… that’s the Wolf tribe.

While the Cat-Spirit tribe has a cheerful personality, the Wolf tribe is proud and possesses extraordinary courage. They have a strong sense of camaraderie and are said to act without regard for their own safety when their companions are in danger. They take pride in acting for others, and possess strong bravery and a sense of justice.

Their abilities are similar to the Cat-Spirit tribe, with overall high potential in physical capabilities. They cannot use magic. However, to make up for this, their physical abilities are so high that they can run as fast as the wind and knock down large trees with their bare hands.

However, when compared to the Cat-Spirit tribe, their physical abilities fall short. The Cat-Spirit tribe boasts the highest physical capabilities, with an insurmountable gap between them, followed by the Wolf tribe. If these abilities were displayed in numerical values, it might be on par with the Dragon tribe.

The Cat-Spirit tribe excels in physical ability, and the Dragon tribe is an all-rounder that can do anything. So, what about the Wolf tribe?

The Wolf tribe has the ability to freely manipulate a life energy called "battle aura." While it’s not an inexhaustible energy, its power is immense.

For example, by enveloping themselves in this aura, they can temporarily gain physical abilities on par with the Cat-Spirit tribe. Or, by compressing it and releasing it like an arrow, they can attack from a distance. They can also perform movements that defy the laws of physics using this battle aura.

"...I see."

After hearing this explanation from Shigure, I was able to get a general understanding of the Wolf tribe.

Since there’s a Cat-Spirit tribe, I had thought it wouldn’t be strange if there was a powerful race with dog-like features to balance them out... but I never expected it to really exist.

It’s quite fascinating. As a beast tamer, it stirred my curiosity, and I wanted to ask even more questions.

"Is that child… also part of the Wolf tribe?"

"Yes, that’s right. She’s my cute granddaughter, Sakura. Come now, Sakura, say hello."

"Woof!"

Sakura barked with strength.

"Nyaa… so fluffy," Kanade said.

"It feels really warm when you hug her tightly," added Chiffon.

Kanade and Chiffon both had blissful expressions on their faces. They had hugged her several times on the way here, so they were probably remembering those moments.

"She looks just like a puppy from any angle."

"Haha, yes, she does."

Shigure chuckled joyfully at Rifa’s blunt comment.

"The Wolf tribe has two notable traits. One is that, like Sakura, they spend their childhood in an animal form. When they grow up, they take on a humanoid form."

"Wow… that’s quite interesting, if I may say so."

"We don’t really understand all the details either… but it’s said that the animal form is more resistant to illness. So, maybe children with weaker bodies spend their early years in that form."

I nodded in agreement but couldn’t help wondering about Sakura’s parents. Shigure seems to be her grandmother, but where are her father and mother? Are they just away, or is there something else...?

Well, I can’t exactly ask that out of the blue, so I’ll hold onto that question for now.

"I had asked Sakura to go check on some visitors to the continent, but I didn’t expect her to bring them all the way to the village."

Shigure looked at me, somewhat troubled.

No, she wasn’t just looking at me—she was looking at both Chiffon and me.

She didn’t seem too concerned about Kanade and the others.

"Um… I apologize. Have we caused any trouble?"

"No, it’s nothing like that. It’s just that… my attitude wasn’t the best either. Even if we tried to hide it, it would likely cause problems later. So, let me be honest. We Wolf tribe members don’t really like humans."

"Is that…?"

It was an unpleasant revelation, but one we couldn’t avoid. I straightened up and listened carefully.

"Another characteristic of the Wolf tribe is that they choose a specific master."

"A master?"

"Yes, they choose someone to serve, dedicating their lives to following that person. Our ancestors would find their one and only master and serve them with all their heart and soul… but these days, that doesn’t happen anymore."

"Why is that?"

"Because they were betrayed."

With a deep sigh, Shigure continued.

"Humans are greedy creatures… even if they seem decent at first, over time, they become greedy or arrogant. They start to take our cooperation for granted and stop appreciating it. Most masters turn out to be unworthy of serving… so we grew disillusioned with humans. Completely disillusioned. Eventually, we decided to stop interacting with them and moved to this continent."

It was a painful story to hear. I don’t know who exactly mistreated the Wolf tribe… but what a foolish thing to do.

"It sounds a lot like the Spirit tribe," Chiffon remarked.

The Spirit tribe had cut off contact with humans after their lands were destroyed… it was a similar story.

"But… if that’s the case, why did you bring us here?"

"To be honest, I wasn’t planning on it. But this child took a liking to you all… Sakura may be young, but her instincts are sharp. If she’s attached to you, then I don’t think you’re bad people. That’s what I thought."

So, without Sakura, we wouldn’t have made it here, and even if we had, we might have been turned away.

"Nyaa, thank you, Sakura. Good girl," Kanade said, petting Sakura with a smile.

"Wooof!"

Sakura responded, clearly enjoying herself as she licked Kanade's hand happily.

"But I had no idea there was such a powerful race like the Wolf tribe," I said.

"They've been cut off from humans for several hundred years now... they disappeared even before the Spirit tribe, so it's no surprise you wouldn’t know about them."

"That long ago...?"

Seriously, what on earth did people from the past do to cause such a rift...?

"So, what brings you all the way out here? Do you have some business with us?" Shigure asked.

"Ah, yes."

There were a lot of things I wanted to ask, but those questions could wait. For now, I needed to find a way to help Iris.

"We came to the Northern Continent to help a certain girl."

"Oh?"

"Her name is Iris. She’s a member of the Celestial tribe, which was believed to be extinct."

"The Celestial tribe...?"

Even Shigure seemed surprised by this information, her eyes widening.

"The truth is..."

I explained briefly how Iris had suffered severe injuries and had her soul wounded, and that we had come to the Northern Continent after hearing about a powerful race with healing abilities. I gave her a rundown of everything that had led us to this point.

"I see... that's quite the story," Shigure said thoughtfully, then shook her head apologetically.

"I'm sorry. While I'd love to help for the sake of our kin, we Wolf tribe members don’t possess any healing abilities."

"Is that so..."

Was Alpha's information wrong? A feeling of despair began to weigh on my heart, but—

"However, there is another powerful race on this Northern Continent."

Shigure continued, uttering words that reignited hope within me.

TL Note- New Race? New Harem member?
