Super Mothership
Gilard remained silent for a long time before finally letting out a helpless sigh.
He had no idea why the enemy seemed to be able to see right through his arrangements and respond with perfectly targeted counter-deployments. But he could not abandon the original strategic objective now—nor was there enough time left to make major tactical adjustments.
“Order all fleets to immediately advance to Phase Two of the plan!” Gilard said darkly.
“Yes, sir!”
…
With the order issued, the battlefield quickly shifted once again.
“Clan Chief, the two fleets from Gemini have changed course. Their targets are Device 2 and 3!”
The Ryan clan, who were closely monitoring the battlefield, immediately noticed the anomaly.
“It seems… the intelligence is most likely true!” The old clan chief instantly realized he had bet on the right horse, a hint of joy flashing through his eyes.
From the enemy’s actions at this moment, it was clear that all three wormhole expansion device locations had been exposed. That made the opponent’s earlier behavior painfully obvious… a diversion tactic!
Seeing that their scheme was now impossible to carry out, the enemy had no choice but to reveal their true strategic intentions ahead of schedule.
So close! They had nearly fallen for it!
As he let out a small breath of relief, the old clan chief found himself growing even more curious.
Who exactly was that mysterious figure who had provided the intel?
A detailed battle plan like this could only be accessed by high-ranking officers on the enemy’s side. It made no sense!
Unless… it was truly the legendary art of prophecy?
Spartacus: “…” (/ω╲)
…
Although their targets had been exposed and the plan disrupted, Gemini showed exceptional determination. Three fleets lunged toward the three objectives, and soon they inevitably clashed with the forces sent to intercept them.
The first to make contact was the decoy fleet attacking Target No. 1.
But the moment combat began, the Ryan side sensed something was wrong.
First, the fleet’s long-range firepower was nowhere near as fierce as expected. The Bronze Legion responsible for interception easily broke through the fire blockade, executing the classic “assassin closing in on the mage” maneuver.
Next, countless attacks struck the Gemini fleet—only to pass straight through as though hitting phantoms!
Under waves of high-energy attacks and force-field interference, the “fleet” distorted into bizarre abstract shapes, unable to regain a stable form.
As several warship projections twisted and shattered, dozens of spherical drones—each tens of meters in diameter—were exposed in plain sight.
A few unlucky spheres were hit, breaking apart instantly, their illusions dispersing completely.
“Not good! It’s camouflage!” the Ryan side quickly realized.
Cosmic warships were massive; their gravitational signatures could not be hidden. But not being able to hide didn’t mean they couldn’t be disguised.
These spherical drones could perfectly simulate the force-fields of the corresponding warship models. Combined with ultra-realistic projection technology, they flawlessly deceived the Ryan side’s battlefield radar and targeting systems.
Gemini had revealed the first of their carefully prepared trump cards!
In the entire “fleet,” only a few dozen warships at the rear were real. And now that they had completed their luring mission, they had all turned around and were already fleeing the battlefield.
These ships assigned to the most dangerous task were all small, fast vessels—slick and slippery. While the enemy was still in shock, they were already gone, leaving nothing but a trail of fading engine lights…
After the decoys on this side were completely exposed, the Ryan civilization quickly realized that the intel they possessed wasn’t just correct—it was absolutely, perfectly accurate.
They immediately increased the pressure on the other two Gemini fleets.
But Gemini still held the initiative, and Ryan’s response was a beat too slow. By now, the two real assault fleets had already drawn quite close to their targets.
To buy time for their intercepting units, the mixed Ryan fleet that had been stalling Gemini began launching reckless suicide charges, hoping to slow their advance at any cost.
However, Gemini was just as quick to react. They immediately performed a “lizard-tail cut,” splitting off a small detachment to hold the rear while the main force continued rushing forward at full speed—displaying an unshakable determination to complete their mission.
“Boom!” A massive flagship suddenly opened fire first, launching a thick beam of light toward what appeared to be empty space.
“Bang!” An invisible force-field rippled outward. The void in front of the Gemini fleet distorted as the scene twisted visibly.
A moment later, a metallic artificial structure several kilometers in diameter lost its disguise and slowly emerged into view.
This wormhole expansion device resembled a giant metal sundial, slowly rotating at a constant rate. The rotation generated a force-field of unknown principle. At the center of the “sundial,” a mysterious black axis ran straight through its core, pointing directly toward the wormhole.
Through optical monitoring, one could see that the device’s metal shell was engraved with intricate energy circuits that emitted a faint glow.
The densely packed circuits all converged toward the central black axis.
The black core appeared to be straining under the massive energy flow—tiny purple arcs of electricity danced wildly across its surface, releasing terrifying high-energy reactions.
Even more astonishing, the entire wormhole expansion device looked surreal—like a mirage—giving onlookers a bizarre sense that it existed half in another dimension.
“We found it! Our theory was correct!” the Gemini crews erupted in ecstatic cheers.
In the next moment, several flagships within range opened fire simultaneously, trying to destroy the device before it could react. But without exception, every attack was twisted and deflected by the bizarre force-field.
However, the attacks weren’t entirely useless. The energy circuits on the strange device flickered violently, showing signs of instability. That small reaction gave the Gemini forces hope.
At this time, the Ryan Bronze Legion finally arrived—charging forward desperately to stop Gemini’s relentless assault.
The second Gemini fleet, slightly slower, was intercepted before entering firing range. But after enough reckless, death-defying attacks, the second wormhole expansion device was also forced out of its cloaked state.
Gemini had chosen to attack two targets simultaneously to increase their margin of success. Even if one fleet failed, destroying just one of the devices would still achieve the mission objective.
A fierce battle erupted around the wormhole expansion devices—countless explosions illuminating the surrounding starfield…
…
Meanwhile, our clever little fox Spartacus was chasing the fleeing Gemini decoy squad while watching the violent clashes unfolding in the two main battle zones.
Since he already had advance intel, he naturally didn’t choose to join either of the two meat grinders. Instead, he had long ago chosen the safest route—the bottom lane.
On the battlefield, you must never fear death. The more afraid you are, the faster you die.
But if there’s a chance to survive, he would never let it slip away!
