Super Mothership
Time shifted slightly backward…
A steel warship’s bow, bristling with vicious cannons, pierced through the pitch-black spacetime wormhole, accompanied by countless high-speed mechs and star-fighters streaking past. They carried with them the aura of annihilation from a foreign civilization.
Almost at the same moment, the nearly hundred-thousand-square-kilometer wormhole traffic zone rippled like a calm lake struck by sudden rain, blooming with countless concentric waves.
Hundreds upon hundreds of warships bridged the vast cosmic distance… coming for revenge!
“Boom!”
A slow-to-evacuate, round salvage ship full of war wreckage was caught off guard by the enemy’s attack and turned instantly into more war wreckage.
A battleship’s force-field shield blasted aside the flying debris. Its cannon muzzles began gathering energy particles, aiming at the enemies in the distance who had just begun to panic.
The next second—ten thousand warships opened fire at once!
The starry sky, which had only recently quieted down, boiled again. High-energy beams that bent light wove countless paths of death, vaporizing and distorting every material object in front of them!
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Seconds later, explosions scattered throughout the Wolf Civilization’s defense line, forming a sea of lights—like tens of thousands of flashbulbs in the night sky…
Within a narrow region stretching hundreds of thousands of kilometers, the Gemini Civilization’s hundreds upon hundreds of battleships, along with uncountably many carrier-based weapons, surged out of the wormhole like a dense swarm of bees, pouncing straight toward the Wolf Civilization’s fortifications!
When the Fallen Angel passed through the wormhole, this was the overwhelming scene of war that greeted Nie Yun’s eyes.
“So this is the true sea of stars…” Nie Yun murmured in awe as he gazed at the magnificent battlefield.
This was the first time he had personally experienced an interstellar war involving thousands of warships and millions of mechs. Even the ever-growing mechanical insect swarm he commanded couldn’t hope to withstand such world-ending force head-on.
Of course, the mechanical insects’ greatest strength was absolutely not frontal confrontation.
The Gemini Civilization had thrown everything into this offensive. Aside from the remnants of the first defeated assault fleet and the “Dreadnought War Star,” the pillar of their military strength, almost every combat-capable asset had been invested into this “Tidal Surge” operation.
Nie Yun shifted his gaze slightly to the side.
Among the massive fleet formation, the most eye-catching vessel was undoubtedly the colossal, fiery red, streamlined flagship—nearly a hundred kilometers long. It was Gilard’s personal ship, the Tyrant!
Indeed, this time Gilard had not only mobilized the entire military strength but had personally come to command the frontline, dramatically boosting Gemini morale.
This alone offset much of the psychological damage from their earlier defeat.
True to its name, the Tyrant’s firepower was brutal. Its huge energy beams rained down endlessly upon the enemy lines, like a berserker obsessed with pure destructive output. Just witnessing its ferocity was enough to make one’s heart tremble.
A warship of the Fallen Angel’s class placed beside it was no more than a child holding a water gun.
Even Nie Yun’s hybrid battleship couldn’t compare in frontal firepower to a heavyweight like the Tyrant.
Warships of this magnitude were incredibly expensive, required long construction cycles, and demanded monstrous maintenance costs. Even for a superpower like the Gemini Civilization, fewer than ten such ships were in service. Each of the four major star regions had one assigned to its grand-general as a command vessel.
The metal-built behemoth had such mass that merely passing near an asteroid could permanently alter the asteroid’s orbit.
Thus, a super-battleship like the Tyrant was essentially the largest artificial craft allowed to travel within a star system.
As for the Dreadnought War Star, unless one intended to deliberately disrupt celestial mechanics and destroy millions of years of natural balance with its massive gravitational influence, it could only wander outside the system indefinitely.
Inside the Tyrant.
“All units—advance according to the operation plan,” Gilard commanded with a steely expression.
“Yes, sir!”
With the order given, the left, right, and central fleets began converging slowly under the guidance of subordinate commanders, forming a dense assault formation—three sharp blades driving straight into the Wolf Civilization…
…
“E-enemy… enemy attack!”
“Quick! Sound the alarm—this is a large-scale attack!”
“The first defensive line has lost 70%! No good, we can’t hold it! Request the Bronze Mech Corps for reinforcements immediately! Boom! Zzzzt—”
“Zzzzt… Sector V8 forces, respond if you hear this… zzzzt… communications are being jammed… zzzzt…”
The Wolf Civilization had clearly not expected that the Gemini Civilization, which had just been beaten back a few hours earlier, would launch a counterattack so quickly—and with even greater ferocity than before!
A massive portion of their defensive fortifications, still in the middle of repair, suffered heavy damage once again!
Not only that, Gemini had somehow cracked the Wolf Civilization’s communications frequencies and deployed regional jamming devices, instantly paralyzing nearly half of the Wolf Civilization’s forward defensive lines and plunging their troops into further chaos.
“It seems Gemini came fully prepared. This kind of highly specialized communication jamming device definitely couldn’t have been built in a short time. Clearly, Gilard kept it secret on purpose—probably for today’s grand counteroffensive.
The real question is… how many trump cards do they still have hidden?”
Nie Yun watched the busy personnel on the bridge, but his thoughts had already gone elsewhere.
He turned his gaze toward the rapidly collapsing Wolf Civilization.
Reality proved that Gemini’s earlier casualties had not been in vain. Thanks to the previous assault, the Wolf Civilization’s defensive layouts and troop positions had been thoroughly probed. As a result, Gemini’s attack this time was extremely precise.
Taking advantage of the fact that the opponent had no time to adjust their defenses, the Gemini fleet unleashed full firepower the moment they arrived, giving the Wolf Civilization no chance at all to react.
It was practically a one-wave sweep. Every major fixed military target within the range of Gemini’s cannons suffered devastating strikes. The overwhelming firepower of the Gemini fleet was displayed to its fullest.
In contrast, the Wolf Civilization’s patchwork fleet of old, mismatched warships—like a collection of second-hand leftovers—barely contributed to the fight before being blasted into chaos.
In truth, aside from their elite Bronze Mech Corps, the Wolf Civilization’s other military assets—whether in technology or firepower—were inferior to those of Gemini.
The technological gap between the two sides was like comparing two different technological eras—wildly mismatched and painfully out of place.
“This must be one of the Wolf Civilization’s methods of controlling their vassal civilizations,” Nie Yun speculated silently.
The information he’d obtained from Spartac wasn’t much, but it was enough to give him a general understanding of the Ryan Clan’s circumstances.
The Wolf Civilization selected outstanding warrior races, conquered them, and imposed the ‘War God Code.’ Then they trained their warriors through brutal bloodshed, treating them like insects in a jar, forcing the strongest to emerge through endless killing.
Every year, they selected a huge number of Ryan Clan warriors to serve as cannon fodder. The best among them were chosen to join the main mech army. But when it came to the key element of interstellar warfare—space warships—they strictly monopolized the technology, only selling or donating outdated models.
Calling these things “warships” was generous—they were more like armed transport ships, at best capable of ferrying troops.
When facing a “complete and balanced” civilization like Gemini, trying to fight a space war with such a fleet was nothing but feeding oneself to the slaughter!
Without advanced warships, no matter how strong the Ryan warriors were, their operational radius and endurance were severely restricted. They were forced to rely entirely on the Wolf Civilization’s logistics and long-range deployment.
It was like having top-tier fighter jets but no aircraft carrier—the threat level plummets instantly.
“Allowing the vassal civilization’s military development to become lopsided… tch tch! This is practically silent military castration,” Nie Yun said while rubbing his chin, impressed.
Hmm… seems like there’s something worth learning here…
Kara Civilization: “…” (⊙﹏⊙)
TL Note- Poor Kara Civilization...
