Super Mothership
“Your Excellency, our fleet has suffered heavy losses, and the enemy’s forces are still pouring in through the wormhole...” He had to tactfully remind Gustav.
If this is still part of the plan, then this battle strategy… was it written by a gym teacher or something?
“We can’t catch the wolf without sacrificing the lamb. Losses are inevitable, but our strategic objective has already been achieved, hasn’t it?”
“You mean... luring the enemy out?”
“Of course. My orders stated it clearly.”
“But, Your Excellency, how did the enemy seem to know our moves in advance? As soon as we withdrew, they launched an immediate offensive and completely caught us off guard.”
Luring them out wasn’t the issue—the problem was the timing!
“This isn’t the first time our operations have been leaked. What do you think the reason is this time?” Gustav replied with a mysterious smile.
Not the first time?
The sea clan officer froze at those words. Then something clicked, and he exclaimed in shock, “That spy again?!”
That elusive spy, who always managed to steal classified intel from the upper echelons of the sea clan—he had become a major threat to the fleet!
Gustav had launched multiple investigations among high-ranking officers just to find this person, creating a climate of suspicion. This officer himself had been questioned several times and remembered it clearly.
Could this be another “Spygate”?
“Indeed! But this time, I gave him the intel myself! Heh.” Gustav gave a smug smile.
“The enemy has repeatedly and brazenly extracted information from my side, even planted electronic viruses in our fleet. I’ll admit he’s been discreet, but I still caught a clue!
Just recently, I finally identified a major suspect close to me!
To confirm his identity, I deliberately fed him false information.
That intel claimed I would recall your wormhole defense fleet and combine forces to launch a direct assault on Planet Kara, aiming to wipe out all resistance there in one swift strike.
And as you’ve seen... the intel was leaked!
And the enemy... took the bait!”
“So that’s how it is!” The sea clan officer’s eyes lit up. “Then... does that mean the spy’s identity is confirmed? Who is it?”
Ahem! Gustav coughed lightly and didn’t answer.
“Oh! Forgive me for speaking out of turn.” The officer quickly realized—if the spy’s identity hadn’t been announced, it must mean Gustav still had a use for him.
Could it be... that he intended to continue feeding him false information?
“Your Excellency, what should we do next?
I’ve observed that the enemy forces this time are fully equipped with the Vortex insignia of the Unity of All Things cult. They’re likely the elite core unit—completely different from the enemies we’ve faced before, and their combat capabilities are extremely strong.
While we currently hold the advantage, their reinforcements seem far beyond our expectations. Plus, that new battleship of theirs has a terrifying main cannon—with longer range and a ridiculously short cooldown time.
If we let them keep reinforcing like this, I’m afraid our fleet won’t be able to hold the line,” the officer said with concern.
It wasn’t that he feared battle—it was just that the new warship from the Unity of All Things cult had left a deep impression on him.
They didn’t need many—just two or three more of that class, and their firepower could suppress the entire fleet!
“Don’t worry. Since I planned to lure the snake from its hole, I naturally have a follow-up strategy!
I’ve already dispatched two more sub-fleets near Planet Kara to support you. Your next mission is to fight and retreat, drawing more of the enemy into the neighboring star system.
We couldn’t deal with them before. But now that they’ve dared to show themselves, I’ll make sure none of them get out alive!”
Hearing that Gustav had sent two more sub-fleets for reinforcement, the sea clan officer felt greatly reassured.
After all, the wormhole in the solar system was narrow. Only a limited tonnage of ships could pass through at once. Even if the Unity of All Things cult pushed the wormhole to its limits, their incoming forces would never be enough to overwhelm three of their fleets.
This was a guaranteed victory.
“First lure the snake from its hole, then entice the enemy to go deeper, and finally encircle and destroy them! Lord Gustav, so this was an interlocking series of strategies! Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!”
The sea clan officer immediately showered him with flattery.
“Gustav” seemed quite pleased with the praise and gave him a look that said, You’ve got potential.
“Do your job well. Once this mission is over, it’s about time your rank got promoted too, hehe…”
The officer’s face lit up with excitement at Gustav’s promise.
“Yes! Thank you for Your Excellency’s guidance. I will not let you down!”
After the communication ended, the sea clan officer immediately began shouting a series of battle orders. Once the fleet's tactical arrangements were in place, his excitement still hadn’t faded.
But amid the exhilaration, a sudden doubt crept into his mind…
When did Gustav become so clever and resourceful? Pulling off a chain of strategic traps?
Could it be that he’d finally been pushed too far by that arrogant spy and was forced to tap into some hidden potential?
So people really only show their strength when backed into a corner…
...
Wormhole Battlefield.
Boom boom boom! Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
The fighting on-site was fierce. Lasers filled the battlefield like a forest of light, explosions and fire dominated the scene.
The Earth forces’ tactics were already quite clear:
The “Houyi-class” frigates held the center of the formation, continuously firing gamma-ray cannons to use their superior range to prevent the Gemini fleet from getting close to the wormhole and interfering with their troop deployments.
Meanwhile, waves of mechas continued pouring out of the wormhole, rushing toward the sea clan fleet in a steady stream—harassing, ambushing, and entangling them—basically doing everything to keep them from easily approaching the wormhole.
In contrast, the sea clan fleet initially seemed to want a full-force advance, aiming to push the Earth forces back into the wormhole zone and seize back control of it. As a result, as soon as both sides’ mechas appeared, a fierce melee broke out!
Though the Earth’s “Sword Immortal” mechas had a performance edge over Gemini’s “Wanderers,” it wasn’t enough for one to take on ten. Given Gemini’s numbers, the Earth side was still at a disadvantage, barely holding the line thanks to continuous reinforcements to prevent the enemy fleet from reaching the wormhole.
Gemini had the upper hand in terms of fleet numbers. The Earth’s mecha units not only had to deal with the enemy’s numerous mechas and fighter craft, but also endure suppressive fire from the sea clan’s main fleet. The fighting was extremely tough—it was practically one-for-one losses just to maintain the current balance.
But after a short while, something changed.
The sea clan’s battle tactics suddenly shifted. Just moments ago, they had been pressing hard with everything they had. But now, they suddenly became much more cautious.
Their main fleet even started fighting while retreating, never again stepping into the Houyi-class’s firing range.
Gemini’s fleet grew conservative, and the outnumbered Earth forces had no reason to pursue a fight. Instead, they focused on reinforcing the wormhole defense line, only sending small mecha teams to harass the sea clan fleet while quietly stockpiling strength.
This unspoken coordination between both sides immediately reduced the battlefield intensity by a whole level.
And at that moment, Gustav’s flagship had already arrived above Planet Kara...
While everyone’s eyes were fixed on the wormhole battlefield, no one noticed that deep within Planet Kara, a mysterious force was starting to stir...
TL Note- New force?
