Super Mothership
Kara Star High Orbit, Twin Star Blockade Fleet.
“Support the wormhole battlefield? Has the situation there become that dire?” a marine officer asked Gustav on the communication screen, visibly puzzled.
The fierce battles happening in the wormhole region had, of course, already drawn the attention of the rest of the Twin Star legions in the neighboring star systems.
“Yes! The enemy has deployed new-type warships. Our wormhole defense fleet suffered heavy losses upon first contact—one destroyed, one heavily damaged. Their combat capabilities far exceeded our expectations!
And their reinforcements just keep coming. With only the current wormhole defense fleet, we may not be able to hold them off!” Gustav’s face on the screen was grim.
Naturally, it wasn’t the real Gustav speaking.
In fact, the reason Nie Yun launched a tailing assault right after the Twin Star wormhole defense fleet retreated—rather than waiting until they were far off to safely deploy more forces—was because any delay would surely raise suspicions about the unusual movements of the wormhole defense fleet across the Twin Star forces.
By then, the fabricated “secret order” would no longer hold up under scrutiny, and the utility of Gustav’s identity would come to an end.
From earlier intelligence theft to virus implantation, Nie Yun had already gained significant advantage by impersonating Gustav.
However, these benefits came at the cost of leaving behind numerous traces tied to Gustav.
If the Twin Stars conducted a deeper investigation, they would undoubtedly find something suspicious around him.
This could also expose the infiltration capabilities of the mechanical insects—something Nie Yun was determined to avoid.
Since the cracks were already showing, it was time to discard this chess piece.
Now, Nie Yun planned to squeeze out every last drop of value from this scapegoat before the Twin Stars realized the truth!
“But if we head out to provide reinforcements, what happens to the blockade mission at Kara Star?
The enemy's moves seem strange this time—could this be a diversion by the Unity of All Things? What if we leave, and they use the opportunity to escape Kara Star with the cosmic artifact?” the marine officer hesitated.
“Hm! The fact that you’ve considered this shows your mind is still clear. That’s good!” Gustav gave him an approving look. “But rest assured, I’ve already accounted for that.
The flagship has already regained combat capabilities and is now leading an escort fleet toward Kara Star. So next, I will personally lead the flagship fleet to take over Kara Star’s defense!
The cosmic artifact is of utmost importance. Only by doing this can I feel at ease.”
Hearing this, the marine officer nodded in agreement, clearly reassured by Gustav’s arrangements.
The marine flagship was a large destroyer with powerful combat capabilities. Together with three escort warships, even if the Kara people had one or two more hidden starships, this fleet should be more than enough to handle it.
“Commander, should we request reinforcements from the Feather Clan?” the marine officer suggested again.
“No. Not unless absolutely necessary—I won’t bring the Feather Clan into the battle!”
“Why not?”
“Hmph! I don’t trust them!” Gustav snorted coldly.
The marine officer was momentarily stunned, then seemed to recall something and said no more.
The codenamed differential electronic attacks between the two races had clearly eroded the trust between the fleets.
It was impossible to say there was no resentment among the marine officers.
“Don’t worry. The enemy won’t have much strength left in the solar system. Even relying on our marine forces alone will be more than enough to deal with them!
Besides, since the Unity of All Things dared to launch an assault, our marine legion now has a golden opportunity to strike back hard—cut off the enemy’s extended claws and redeem the setbacks from our earlier defeats.
This is a chance I’ve specially fought to secure for you all. Don’t let me down!”
“So that’s it!” This was a chance their superior had worked to get them, a shot at military merit!
The officer immediately stood at attention and declared, “Rest assured, Commander! We will not disappoint you!”
...
After ending the transmission, Nie Yun looked at the star map with satisfaction.
More than forty marine warships of various types in Kara Star’s orbit were beginning to slowly accelerate, spiraling away from the planet’s gravitational field.
Using Gustav’s identity as cover, the second false order issued by Nie Yun was to redeploy the marine blockade fleet from Kara Star to the wormhole battlefield!
As a senior officer of the Pioneer Legion, Nie Yun was exceptionally familiar with the Twin Stars’ military strength and deployment. Before taking action, he had done his homework thoroughly.
According to the data, the Twin Stars’ military presence in the Proxima star system was mainly concentrated in four regions: the gravitational zones of Kara Star, the second planet, the solar system’s wormhole, and the Proxima system’s wormhole.
In terms of strength, after the latest round of expansion, the Pioneer Legion—aside from its two flagships—had a total of six sub-fleets, each consisting of roughly 30 warships.
Take Nie Yun’s Third Sub-Fleet as an example. A typical sub-fleet included:
- One 200,000-ton large escort ship,
- Five medium-sized escort ships,
- Two small carriers,
- Three large supply ships,
- And another 19 various small auxiliary vessels for reconnaissance, maintenance, and fire support.
More than half of the fleet consisted of support and auxiliary ships, meaning only about 15 warships actually had direct combat capabilities. The solar system wormhole defense fleet was equivalent to one such sub-fleet.
Aside from that fleet, the other two sub-fleets under the Marine Clan’s command had originally been stationed by Gustav in Kara Star’s orbit to carry out the blockade mission.
If these two sub-fleets combined, they would have over 45 combat ships, plus various auxiliary ships—a near full-force deployment.
Outside the two Marine-controlled zones, the Feather Clan’s First Sub-Fleet was stationed at the entrance of the Proxima system’s wormhole. They guarded the passage leading into Twin Star territory and were tasked with protecting the large quantum communication base station.
Meanwhile, the Second Sub-Fleet and Nie Yun’s Third Sub-Fleet were garrisoned in orbit around the second planet, tasked with protecting the spaceport—a hub for material distribution—and the planet’s arms factories.
The Feather Clan’s First Sub-Fleet was too far to reach the battlefield quickly, so in this operation, Nie Yun’s primary opponents—aside from the Marine fleets—would be the Feather Clan’s two sub-fleets possibly coming to reinforce from the second planet.
“Have this ship immediately accelerate at full power toward Kara Star!” Nie Yun ordered.
“Yes, Commander!” the marine flagship’s AI respectfully responded.
For low-level AIs lacking true intelligence, they recognize only authority—not the person behind it. As long as the authentication credentials matched, even a pig could be the top-ranking officer.
This flagship had already been declared in a state of emergency by Nie Yun under the pretense of “capturing a spy.” All communications were locked down, and personnel were restricted from moving freely.
Although the crew was uneasy about losing their freedom, the strict discipline onboard had so far prevented any unrest.
But with time, they would inevitably notice something was wrong.
Of course, Nie Yun had already picked out a perfect “destination” for them…
Receiving real-time battle reports from various locations, Nie Yun rapidly simulated and calculated the upcoming developments in the war. Then he opened another communication channel.
“Lord Gustav, you finally responded!”
The marine officer on the screen, upon seeing Gustav’s face, looked as if he had seen a savior and let out a breath of relief.
This was none other than the wormhole defense fleet commander, the same one Nie Yun had already tricked once!
“Sir, our current situation is very bad. I wanted to ask about that secret order…”
“Heh! I know what you’re about to ask. Don’t worry—everything is going according to my plan!”
What?!
Things have gotten this messed up, and you're saying it's part of the plan?!
