The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet

Chapter 428 Transcendence

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

"You're late."

As we emerged above ground, Lin was waiting for us.

She must have been certain that we would come after her.

Still, it was a bit unexpected.

Considering her twisted personality, I thought she might launch an attack the moment we met, or perhaps bombard the village—the dungeon—with attack magic, trying to bury us alive.

I figured she’d have something like that in mind, but surprisingly, she hadn’t done anything.

She had simply waited for us, doing nothing.

"You actually waited for us?"

"I could have just spammed attack magic and buried you alive, you know. But where’s the fun in that? Watching you die where I can't see you is so dull. You need to struggle—desperately, right in front of me—before you finally die. Otherwise, it’s just not satisfying."

She wants to kill with her own hands.

She wants to torment us slowly.

So, please resist as much as you can, okay?

This was her declaration of war.

It had been a while since we last saw each other, but Lin’s personality hadn’t changed one bit.

She was no longer part of the Hero's Party, so I thought—just maybe—she might have changed, even a little…

But no.

She was as rotten as ever.

And that was a relief.

Now, I wouldn’t have to worry about familiarity or past connections.

I could go all out.

"Turn to dust!"

"Wha—!?"

The one who launched an attack out of nowhere was Elfin.

Emitting something like phosphorescent light, she conjured flames of crimson inferno.

Then, she shot them like arrows.

Her target, of course, was Lin.

Lin's eyes widened slightly in surprise, but she didn’t show any sign of panic or fear.

"Heh."

With a smug smile, Lin swung her arm.

In response, blue flames ignited in the air.

The azure fire clashed with the crimson inferno, neutralizing it completely.

"Attacking without warning, huh? Bold move."

"This isn’t a duel. Did you really expect us to politely announce the start of battle?"

"Ugh, you’re so cocky. Seriously, you’re just a brat—loud, annoying, selfish… Ahaha! I’m really going to enjoy breaking you. Cry for me, as miserably as possible."

Lin spread both arms wide.

She didn’t unleash a spell immediately but instead gathered magic power into her palms.

The sheer pressure of her power sent chills down my spine.

"You lowly humans dare to speak so arrogantly?!"

"Humans are weak. You overestimate your own strength and bring about your own downfall."

"Fools! Face the judgment of our flames!"

Enraged by Lin’s words, three Phoenix Clan members stepped forward.

With a roaring whoosh, they summoned enormous flames, distorting the air with their heat.

These flames were hot enough to melt iron effortlessly.

Not just iron—perhaps even rock would melt under such heat.

A truly lethal attack.

Any ordinary human wouldn’t stand a chance—they would be reduced to ashes in an instant.

But the enemy wasn’t an ordinary human.

Lin had become a demon.

"Stop—!"

A terrible premonition struck me, and I tried to intervene—

But I was too late.

The three Phoenix warriors unleashed their respective flames, hurling them toward Lin.

It was an overwhelming attack, rivaling Elfin’s power.

An immense inferno.

But it wasn’t enough.

Not nearly enough.

"Heh."

Lin laughed.

She sneered at the Phoenix warriors' attack, as if it were nothing more than a child’s plaything.

"Nope, that won’t work. That kind of attack could never kill me."

Lin didn't move.

She remained in place, arms spread wide, simply staring down the incoming flames.

And with just that—

The fire disappeared.

It was swallowed into the air, as if it had never existed.

An impossible phenomenon.

The Phoenix warriors were shaken.

"W-What?!"

"I-Impossible! What just happened…?"

"Hmm, what was it called again? I don’t remember the exact name, but it’s a technique that analyzes and breaks down an attack’s structure, neutralizing it. What was it again…? That damn lizard used it too… Ah, right. Something like a Canceler?"

It was probably the Material Canceller.

A long time ago—so long that my memory is hazy—I remember hearing about it from Tania.

It’s a skill that nullifies magic and abilities.

Of course, such an outrageous skill isn't something just anyone can use.

It requires the power of a Strongest Species or something equivalent.

On top of that, there’s one more condition.

That condition is… an overwhelming difference in power between the user and the target.

"That attack just now was pretty dangerous, wasn’t it? If I hadn’t done anything, I might’ve died. So… I can do the same, right? You tried to kill me, so you’re ready to be killed in return, aren’t you?"

"Hi—!"

One of the Phoenix Clan warriors took an involuntary step back, overwhelmed by Lin’s unfathomable killing intent.

At that moment, a Strongest Species was defeated—not physically, but in spirit—by a mere human.

"Are you going to run? Surrender? Swear loyalty? If so, I’ll let you go. I’m not that much of a demon, you know?"

"D-Don’t be ridiculous!"

"As if a mere human could make us bow!"

"Exactly! We, the Phoenix Clan, are noble in soul! We would sooner die than yield to a human!"

"Oh? Then go ahead and die."

Lin thrust both hands forward.

The magic power gathered in her palms took shape, once again forming pale blue flames.

The fire surged forward, twisting and coiling like a serpent.

It continued to grow, spinning and expanding until it became a massive flaming tornado.

The tornado tore into the earth, incinerating everything it touched, consuming all in its path as it rushed toward the Phoenix warriors.

They instinctively tried to defend themselves—but it was useless.

They conjured walls of fire, but what of it? The flaming tornado swallowed them whole in an instant.

The three Phoenix warriors were engulfed, their bodies flung around like ragdolls in the raging flames.

Even though they should have possessed a high resistance to fire, it burned them.

It burned their bodies, their hearts, even their very souls—until nothing remained.

Not a single trace.

"Impossible… they were wiped out in a single attack?"

The remaining Phoenix warriors turned pale.

"Aha… ahaha! Oh my god, this is hilarious! This is the so-called Strongest Species? This is a race meant to stand above others? What a joke! You’re pathetic! The name ‘Strongest’ is wasted on you—ahahaha!"

"You… you bastard…!!!"

Enraged at the loss of their comrades, Elfin unleashed even greater flames, as if preparing to avenge them—

"Elfin!"

"…!?"

I grabbed her hand, stopping her before she could act.
