The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet
"This human... is the kind of fool I know all too well—one with an arrogant heart who refuses to see themselves for what they are. Everyone, no need to hold back. Burn them to ashes!"
At Elfin’s signal, several members of the Phoenix Tribe summoned fierce flames.
Seeing this, Kanade quickly retreated to the edge of the room, fearing that his tail might catch fire.
In contrast, Lin displayed a confident smile.
Even if she had learned to use magic without chanting, the power gap between her and the strongest species was vast.
Normally, one would expect her to be incinerated by the Phoenix Tribe’s flames.
And yet, Lin showed no sign of fear.
As if to declare that no such gap existed, she confidently displayed her magic.
Four ice walls materialized, appearing as though they intended to stop the raging inferno.
They surrounded Lin completely, standing firm like loyal sentinels to shield their master from the flames.
"You think our Phoenix Tribe's flames can be stopped by such childish tricks?"
"I should be asking you—do you really think such a petty fire can break through my magic?"
The goddess of victory smiled upon Lin.
Even when faced with the raging flames, the ice walls did not shatter. They stood firm, like an unyielding mountain, protecting their master.
But that was not the end.
Cracks formed in the ice walls, splitting them into sixteen pieces each.
The ice fragments hovered lightly in the air as if they had a will of their own before being launched at high speed.
I've seen this before.
That was the intermediate magic spell Ice Cluster—a technique that fires fist-sized ice chunks like arrows at high velocity.
However, what I just witnessed was on a completely different level.
Not just fist-sized, but larger than a human face.
Not just one, but sixty-four of them.
The Phoenix Tribe warriors scrambled to defend themselves, but they had not expected a counterattack in the first place.
They must have assumed they would burn their enemy to cinders with the first strike.
Because of that, their defenses and evasions were too slow, and they took the full brunt of the ice barrage.
Screams rang out from all around as several Phoenix Tribe members fell.
Some suffered only minor injuries and quickly got back up, while others, in agonizing pain, could not rise again.
"Those with minor injuries, carry the heavily wounded and fall back immediately for treatment!"
"Y-Yes, ma’am!"
Though being overwhelmed by Lin’s attack must have been unexpected, Elfin remained composed and swiftly issued precise commands.
As expected of a leader.
"You human! You dare harm my comrades and enrage me—prepare to regret it!!!"
"You were the ones who attacked first, weren’t you? I was just defending myself."
"Such impudence...!"
"Aaanyway, it’s my turn now, right?"
Lin grinned wickedly, malice flashing across her face.
A soft glow emanated from her hand.
"Elfin!!!"
"Wha—!?"
Sensing something was wrong, I instinctively moved in front of Elfin.
She seemed about to say something, but there was no time to listen.
"Material Creation!"
I summoned a stone wall to act as a shield.
"Gravity Manipulation!"
I wasn’t sure if just the stone wall would be enough.
So I generated a repulsion field between me and Lin as an additional barrier.
A storm of destruction erupted immediately after.
"Boom~!"
With a playful tone, Lin unleashed an overwhelming surge of magical energy.
I had seen this spell before.
She summoned a phantom beast from another realm to unleash an enormous thunderstorm—
The supreme magic Ixion Blast.
"Damn it...!?"
She had made it look like she was aiming at Elfin, but in reality, she was targeting everyone in the room.
There was no time to regret my misjudgment before violet lightning surged through the chamber.
"Hngh!"
Nina quickly conjured a large subspace rift, shielding herself, along with Rifa, Kanade, and Finia, from the lightning.
However, that was her limit—she couldn't extend protection to Chiffon, who was a little further away.
And as for Chiffon—
