The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet

Chapter 307: Strategy meeting and the power of a mother

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

Guided by Rezona, We moved to the mansion of the lord of Krios.

It seems that this place is currently being used as the strategy meeting room for Stampede.

The lord provided this spacious room for our use. Quite a difference from the previous lord of Horizon.

"Nice to meet you. I am the lord of Krios, Kais Superior."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Rain Shroud."

The lord of Krios was quite elderly, holding a cane. His hair was mostly white.

However, he had sharp eyes that didn't seem like those of an ordinary old man. While his tone was gentle, there was a unique sense of authority gained from years of experience. He didn't seem to hold his position of lord lightly.

"Are you Rain, by any chance, known as the hero of Horizon?"

"Huh? You know about that?"

"Of course. You're famous, you know. In my position, it's natural to hear about various things. Including you."

His suggestive tone piqued my interest. How much about me is known? He probably know about the hero's blood as well... well, this doesn't seem like the place to mention that.

"If someone like Rain has come as a helper, then we can have hope too."

"Yeah, we're counting on you!"

Encouraged by Kais and Rezona's words, I nodded firmly.

"Could you tell us the situation first? Although I received an explanation from Rifa, I'd like to confirm it again."

"Ah, right."

It seemed Rezona would manage and lead this strategy meeting, as she stepped forward to begin her explanation.

Stampede suddenly occurred, and the town was under attack by countless monsters. It wasn't just once; it had happened multiple times. The volunteer oni headed to where there were high magical reactions, assuming it was artificial, but they were defeated.

... That's what was explained. It was the same information I heard from Rifa beforehand. The only difference was that the situation seemed more urgent than what Rifa had described.

Stampede had already occurred four times. While we were holding out in the fortress, the damage was steadily accumulating. Fatigue was building up, and food was becoming scarce. We were told it wouldn't last long, which was bad news.

"We have to strike at the source quickly... Where is the enemy located?"

"They seemed to have moved elsewhere a little while ago, but they've come back. Here."

Rezona spread out a map on a large table and pointed to a corner.

"South of Krios... a forest area?"

"Meow... It seems difficult to search for the enemy in there."

"Is that so? With Rain's extraordinary tamer ability, I think we can manage somehow."

"Huh? What extraordinary tamer ability?"

"Uh, I'll tell you later."

Rezona showed an odd interest at that moment, while her daughter Rifa gently brushed off the conversation.

"Well, never mind. The enemy is lurking in a castle in this forest area."

"A castle in a place like this?"

"It seems to have a historic value... ah... I don't know the details. Well, it doesn't matter. What matters is that there are damn bastards who killed our brethren in there."

"Mom, you curse a lot."

"Oops, sorry about that. Force of habit."

What does she mean, force of habit...?

Even the strongest mothers have their quirks, and it seems Rifa's mother is no exception.

"Sorry, but we have to defend the town, so we can't help. We can't just rush in all together because we can't rule out the possibility of traps. I hope you understand."

"It's okay."

"Thank you. After all, the enemy isn't just strong; they're cunning. Just the other day..."

"Kukuku..."

Interrupting Rezona's words, a terribly annoying laugh echoed in the room. The owner of the voice was one of the lord's soldiers who had been standing in the corner of the room.

Because he's looking down, I can't see his expression.

He's just laughing hysterically, shaking his shoulders.

"Hahaha, still plotting something foolish, I see. It would be better to be destroyed by our master quietly!"

"Who are you!?"

Noticing that he's not one of his own men, Kais raised his voice sharply.

In response to his voice, the soldier's appearance changes.

His body swells up, armor melting away.

His skin turns black, wings sprouting from his back.

His form is that of a demon.

"Fool, it's a Arch Demon!?"

"An A-ranked monster in the city!?"

Other soldiers hastily prepare their weapons, but the attack from the Arch Demon is faster.

"Regret your foolishness for defying him as you burn in the flames of hell!"

Pitch-black flames are unleashed.

In front, there's Sora, Luna... and Nina.

Sora and Luna use magic.

Nina opens a subspace to try to block the pitch-black flames.

But there were people who moved faster than that.

It's Al and Rezona.

"Dimension Territory"

Al instantly constructs a magical structure and unleashes his power.

Incredibly fast and precise.

The unleashed magic seems to interfere with space.

Space warps and the pitch-black flames are trapped within it.

Finally, Al snaps his fingers, and the space distortion returns to normal, and the pitch-black flames disappear as if nothing had happened.

"Blood Axe!"

Rezona roughly bites her thumb and manipulates the flowing blood to craft a crimson axe.

At a speed like the wind, she approaches the Arch Demon and swings down the crimson axe.

"...Huh?"

The Arch Demon seems clueless about what happened, and a dumbfounded voice slips out.

Eventually, its body slowly splits apart...

It dies, turning into a magic stone.

"Hah. If you want to defeat me, send an S-ranked monster instead of this A-ranked one!"

"Well, that was anticlimactic. To ambush and end up like this, it's nothing but pathetic."

Seeing the triumphant two, I can't help but think, "Well, you're the exception, aren't you?" I wanted to retort but seeing the fate of the Arch Demon I let it go.

――――――――――

"Anyway, that's how it is."

Rezona takes charge of the meeting again...

and apologizes seeming sorry.

"As you saw just now, there are those who disguise themselves as humans and sneak into the city. There are others who come up with all sorts of clever tricks to shake us up. That's why I can't leave here."

"I see... It's troublesome indeed."

With Rezona's power, ordinary monsters shouldn't be a problem.

Defeating the mastermind behind the Stampede might also be possible.

However, it's meaningless if the city we need to protect falls.

It was natural and understandable for Rezona to stay to protect the city.

"Haha, no problem at all. After all, my mother is here."

"That's right. With mother around, it's like having the strength of a hundred men."

"Huh? What are you saying, daughters? I will stay in Krios too."

"What!?"

Sora and Luna raised their voices in surprise.

Sora's tone seemed to falter slightly.

"Is mother not coming with us? Are you slacking off? Haha, you got tired of it, didn't you? Typical of mother. After all, she's the leader of the shut-in squad, a lazy NEET!?"

Al pokes around the area near Luna's temple, causing her to scream with tears in her eyes.

That must have hurt...

"Don't say such rude things. I am staying for the defense of Krios."

"But mother. Isn't Rezona here?"

"Rezona alone isn't handling things well, so I need to lend my strength. If it weren't a big deal, it wouldn't have escalated to this point."

"Now that you mention it, that's true..."

"I don't want to abandon my fellow strongest beings, and humans... well, I don't like them, but it would be troublesome if they disappeared. I'll lend my strength."

"That'll be a great help. With Al around, defending the city will be much easier."

After that...

We gathered information about the enemy, discussed means of transportation, and talked about defending the city...

We spent about two hours working out the strategy.

Ideally, I would want to think it over more carefully, taking several days, but we don't have that much time.

If possible, I want to defeat the mastermind as soon as possible, every minute and every second counts.

"You're Rain, right?"

"Yes."

"We entrust you with the fate of our oni tribe and the people of this city... We're counting on you!"

"I won't let you down."

With a strong determination, I nodded firmly, determined to live up to this trust.

TL Note- There was no chapter on Thursday as the raw site was down for maintenance but Rain looks ready to go.
