I wanted to enjoy a slow life while exploring the territory with a secret gift [craft skill], but I was intentionally banished to the frontier by pretending to be incompetent.

Volume 5-: Lesser Elf Village

Chapter 10-: Let's build a bridge over the spring!

( TL By GUST )

After storing the red cliff stones as materials, we returned to the sacred spring and began the construction of the red bridge.

First, we submerged the stones that would serve as the foundation for the bridge piers into the spring.

Following the guidance of the sacred beast, we moved to the side of the shore where the distance between the spring and the opposite bank was narrowing in a straight line.

On the foundation of the piers, which were evenly submerged towards the opposite bank, we now crafted the bridge.

We repeated the process of crafting and walking across the bridge within the range of the crafting power, about three times.

By the way, for the bridge, we used processed wood that was prepared in advance.

Although I don't fully understand how the Gift, known as the power of the gods, works, my crafting skill automatically optimizes the materials to fit the object being crafted.

So, if I try to craft a bridge, it automatically turns out to be sturdy and resistant to decay, suitable for a bridge.

In addition to that, this time we used red cliff stones to give it color.

Considering the end price and the amount of red cliff stones I heard from Kieda, the cost of this bridge should be enormous.

Although its durability is lower compared to a stone bridge, a wooden bridge adorned in beautiful vermilion, spanning the mystical spring, truly stands out.

We were finally admiring the completed bridge from a little distance away.

"When the sacred beast initially said they wanted a bright red bridge, I thought it wouldn't blend well with the natural scenery..."

"The contrast of blue, green, and red enhances the sense of mystique."

"It seems I was right, wasn't I?"

The proud sacred beast let out a satisfied snort, and this time, we couldn't help but agree.

While casually tuning out the long explanation of why red would stand out from the sacred beast, we were enjoying the beautiful scenery before us."

"Rest-sama~"

We heard a slightly childish voice coming from the direction of the village.

As we turned around, Coritoko was running towards us from the other side of the road leading to the village, carrying something like a pole on his shoulder, waving his hand enthusiastically.

Behind him, we could see Terine and a few other children walking.

"Wow! The bridge is really done!"

Coritoko ran up to us, surprised by the bridge spanning the spring.

The other children soon caught up, and just like Coritoko, they started jumping around, placing their belongings on the ground and running towards the bridge.

"Be careful, okay?"

"Yes, yes!"

Terine, who arrived a bit later, called out to the children.

Apparently, she had been entrusted with taking care of the children while preparations for the feast were underway.

Well, more accurately, Terine must have volunteered herself for the task.

"Babysitting, huh?"

"The children seemed bored, so I suggested to the village chief that I could keep them company."

"Sounds like Terine."

Kieda said that and then continued, looking at the belongings the children had left on the ground.

"By the way, judging from these belongings, did the children come here to fish?"

"Yes. Merime-chan suggested that just going to the spring would be boring."

"Merime?"

"Coritoko's younger sister. See, she's the smallest girl among those children."

I turned my gaze towards the direction Terine pointed.

I could see the five children running around on the bridge, peering into the lake from the railing.

Among them, there was a girl who seemed slightly older, engaged in conversation with a boy.

"So, that's Coritoko's sister."

"Yes, she's quite mischievous, giving Coritoko a hard time."

I told Kieda and the others to keep an eye on them, so they wouldn't fall into the spring, and picked up one of the fishing rods placed on the ground.

It was a very simple design, just a stick with the leaves trimmed off, with a fishing line made of some kind of thread and a fishing hook.

It couldn't compare to the fancy fishing rods sold in the capital.

"I wonder if the fishing hooks are made of stone? Quite clever."

I carefully examined the fishing rod before putting it back on the ground.

But even without a float, I wondered if the fish in this spring could be caught with such a fishing rod.

I walked up to the edge of the spring and peered into it.

Thanks to its high transparency, I could see the bottom of the water near the shore.

And in that water, I could make out the presence of some fish.

"Divine Beast-sama, what kind of fish can be caught in this spring?"

"Even if you ask what kind, I have no knowledge of fish names. But there should have been fish as big as you in this spring."

"Are there really such large fish here?"

"Yes. They should have made their base around the center of the spring."

So, there are gigantic fish in this spring.

I directed my gaze towards the mentioned center where their base supposedly was.

While the sacred spring had high transparency, that particular area seemed to have considerable depth, making it impossible to see the fish shadows.

"Shall we go fishing, my Lord?"

"Rest-sama, would you like to try fishing?"

"That sounds interesting, but we should prioritize building the road to Linaronte's place first."

Today's plan wasn't just about the bridge.

Besides, we needed to bring the neglected carriage and Linaronte here since they had been left behind since yesterday.

I entrusted the children to Terine and the Divine Beast-sama and left the scene.

Then, together with Kieda, we crossed the bridge where the children were playing and reached the front of the forest. There, I stretched out both hands before me.

"Craft!"

We were on our way to create a path through the forest towards Linaronte's location.
