Chapter 592 Legendary Mech

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

Nie Yun examined with great interest the three of the Seven Villains he had heard so much about.

Shadow need not be mentioned—he was completely wrapped in a suit, looking like a man hidden inside a shell, mysterious to the extreme. People like that were either so ugly they couldn’t bear to show their faces, or they were scheming old foxes.

To his surprise, the leader of the Dragoons turned out to be a woman with a stunning figure. As the saying goes, in the martial world there are three types you must not provoke: the elderly, children, and women.

Anyone who could rise to such a high position in the chaotic den of pirates must possess extraordinary survival skills. Either she was ruthless and cunning, or she had a powerful backer—a formidable “godfather.”

No matter which, she was clearly not someone to mess with.

As for the last to arrive, the Crimson Dragon, he looked like a big, burly brute, wearing a somewhat rough-looking golden suit of armor, radiating arrogance as if the words “I am the boss” were plastered across his face.

Although his presence was the most imposing, in Nie Yun’s eyes, this fellow actually seemed the weakest of the three.

No special reason—he was just too ordinary.

He had neither Messiah’s deadly weapons nor Shadow’s imposing mystique. He lacked any distinctive features at all. A character like this, in a movie, would definitely be the disposable extra who dies first.

If Crimson Dragon knew that he was being looked down upon by an extraterrestrial civilization simply for lacking style, who knew what he would think…

Three big shots squeezed into a small lounge, creating an oddly tense atmosphere.

“Messiah, instead of properly managing your pleasure house, why did you come here to join the fun? The arena isn’t a place for women!” Crimson Dragon said bluntly, hostility clear in his eyes.

The relationship between Crimson Dragon and the Dragoons clearly seemed quite poor.

Although all three had come to recruit Nie Yun—belittling rivals while elevating oneself was normal—Crimson Dragon’s gaze toward Messiah went beyond mere rivalry.

Nie Yun guessed that perhaps the names Crimson Dragon and Dragon Cavalry were naturally incompatible. The words “Dragon Cavalry” practically screamed trouble.

“Hehe! Since both of you great leaders have come despite your busy schedules, I naturally had to come take a look at what kind of hero could catch your interest. My sisters truly admire strong men like this.” As she spoke, she gave Nie Yun a flirtatious wink, subtly showing off her alluring figure.

“Heh heh! Messiah, put away your beauty tricks. Lord Ghost’s mechanical body probably isn’t very interested in you or your sisters,” Shadow chuckled.

“Hm?” His words startled the other two, who then noticed the abnormalities in Nie Yun’s body. Their expressions instantly became just as dramatic as Shadow’s had been earlier.

Messiah narrowed her eyes. “I heard Lord Ghost comes from the Cybertron system? But as far as I know, there’s no star system called Cybertron within the Wolf Empire, is there?”

Clearly, she had done thorough intelligence work beforehand.

“Mm. My homeland is very far away…” Nie Yun did not deny it, keeping his answer vague.

This only made the others more uncertain of his identity. Yet, judging by his distinctive traits and mysterious mecha, they all independently thought of one possibility—the Mechanical Race.

At the thought of that powerful race, their confidence in recruiting him immediately weakened.

Crimson Dragon had originally planned to exploit the death of Mad Wolf to stage a “blood for blood” scenario, combining threats and incentives to force Nie Yun into joining. Now, considering the potentially massive backing behind him, he hesitated, unable to speak up.

While all three harbored their own concerns, Nie Yun suddenly broke the silence.

“Heh. I didn’t expect to meet several legendary pirate leaders so soon after arriving. I can more or less guess your intentions. I admire strength—if you want me to join, fine! As long as someone can defeat me and prove they are stronger, I’ll join their faction unconditionally!”

He knew that vague posturing and borrowed authority wouldn’t be enough. To intimidate these cunning pirates, he had to display power that truly inspired fear.

This approach not only showed his strength and helped achieve his small goal of dominating the arena, but also perfectly blocked any further recruitment attempts, all without provoking excessive hostility.

After all, I gave you the chance. You’re just too weak…

His words instantly lit up their eyes.

If they could recruit a Ghost Captain suspected of having ties to the Mechanical Race, the benefits would far exceed those of an ordinary mecha powerhouse.

If nothing else, the endless supply of advanced weaponry would be priceless.

“Good! Straightforward! It’s a deal!” Crimson Dragon responded first, brimming with confidence.

In terms of overall power, he wasn’t confident he could surpass the other two. But when it came to mecha combat, that was his specialty!

Although he had watched recordings of Nie Yun’s battles on the way, and the Ghost’s combat power was indeed formidable… that was only impressive compared to ordinary mechs!

Shadow frowned, thought for a moment, then nodded. “Very well. Let’s each rely on our own abilities.”

“Hehe! I’ll join the fun as well.” Messiah glanced at Crimson Dragon and smiled.

Seeing their reactions, Nie Yun couldn’t help but smile.

They knew the Ghost’s combat strength and still had such confidence—clearly, the foundations of the Seven Pirate Fleets were indeed extraordinary.

But if they thought the Ghost only had a combat rating of 530,000…

Then they were in for a rude awakening.

Nie Yun was confident that, unless some random Super Saiyan suddenly popped out of nowhere, this agreement posed no threat to him at all.

In fact, he had no intention of joining any faction. It wasn’t that he cared about pride or refused to play the role of a subordinate—he was just worried that if he got too familiar with them, it would become difficult to strike later…

Inside the arena, the commentators were still enthusiastically discussing the previous battle, whipping the audience’s emotions into an even greater frenzy.

Commentator A:
“No. 9! Captain Ghost’s new ranking has broken into the top ten, officially making him one of the Ten Great Mecha Masters of the Shattered Star Sector!

He activated the highest-difficulty ‘Consecutive Battle Mode’ and simultaneously broke the arena’s historical record for the fastest ascent into the top ten!

Folks, can you believe it? With nothing but his fists, the Ghost Mecha knocked down eighteen mechs ranked within the top hundred! It didn’t even use a single energy weapon. Once any opponent gets within a hundred meters, there is no escape from the judgment of iron fists!

And before its lightning-fast speed, no mech can create distance!

Even more incredible—after all these consecutive battles, it has not entered the maintenance bay even once! This is a mech so proud it needs no logistics team, and a pilot so arrogant he disdains to enter the repair zone!

Remember this name—Captain Ghost! From today onward, he will become yet another legend of the arena!”

“Captain Ghost! Captain Ghost! Captain Ghost—!”
A tsunami of cheers erupted from the stands.

In the world of pirates, strength reigns supreme, and worshiping the powerful is instinct. A powerful pilot commands even more prestige than a mighty fleet.

That was precisely why the arena had become the perfect stage for pirate crews to harvest fame and influence.

Commentator A:
“I am deeply honored to witness the birth of yet another top-ten powerhouse today! The Ghost—an incredible biomimetic mech that perfectly replicates the combat art of humanoid creatures!

At the same time, it retains the massive power output and superb mobility unique to mechs. For humanoid beings, this is nearly a perfect close-combat mech!

Now it seems that Captain Ghost’s wager is deliberately designed as bait to lure top experts into challenging him. What astonishing confidence!”

Commentator B:
“I completely agree. It follows an extreme close-combat, brute-force path. In fact, if not for its shortcomings in destructive power, I’d even consider it a legendary mech!”

Commentator A:
“A legendary mech capable of soloing an entire fleet? Indeed, in certain aspects, the Ghost is already approaching that standard.

Unfortunately, it focuses too much on biomimetic design. While that enhances strength and agility, it exposes weaknesses in long-range attacks and wide-area destruction.

To this day, the Ghost has never displayed any ranged attack capabilities. Honestly, I even wonder whether it carries energy weapons at all.

Relying solely on close combat, it still isn’t enough to pose a major threat to a fully organized space fleet. That said, there’s no denying the Ghost has a tremendous advantage in arena conditions!

No. 9 is certainly not its limit. In my opinion, aside from the three legendary mechs ranked in the top three, the Ghost has a strong chance against anyone else!

What I’m most curious about now is whether Captain Ghost, already on an eighteen-win streak, will continue challenging higher-ranked opponents all the way to No. 4!”

Commentator B:
“Uh… you don’t need to be curious. I just received another battle request from Captain Ghost…”

Commentator A:
“Haha! As expected, Captain Ghost is a fearless warrior, charging ever forward! Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to witness is a titanic clash between top-ten powerhouses!

So, my friend, tell me—who is Captain Ghost’s next opponent? I can hardly wait!”

Commentator B paused for a moment.
“…Crimson Dragon.”

Commentator A:
“Ladies and gentlemen! The answer is revealed! His next opponent is Cri—Cri—Cri—Crimson Dragon?!”

He only realized what he had said halfway through, nearly biting off his tongue in shock.

“Ahem! Are you sure it’s that Crimson Dragon?”

“If today isn’t April Fool’s Day, then what’s written here should indeed be Chi-en-mu-Red… uh, Crimson Dragon, real name Eric—the leader of one of the Seven Great Pirate Lords, inheritor of the legendary mech Crimson Dragon, and the arena’s No. 2… that Crimson Dragon!”

“—Hiss!”
A collective gasp echoed through the arena.

Why were there exactly seven great pirate fleets when Shattered Star City was founded? Why not eight or nine?

There was only one reason: hundreds of years ago, each of the Seven Great Pirate Crews possessed a legendary mech—strategic-level combat assets!

After centuries of warfare, four of those legendary mechs had fallen one after another. The remaining three firmly occupied the top three spots of the arena rankings, unchallenged for over a decade.

And today… a new challenger had appeared!
