Super Mothership
“Send the Marine brothers out—wipe out those few invading light armored units at all costs!” After dealing with the “traitor,” Gold Tooth ground his teeth and barked the order to his men.
“Then… what about the mech on the docks?” a subordinate asked hesitantly.
At that, the veins on Gold Tooth’s forehead twitched again. “No holding back. Take it down. Minimize losses as much as possible!”
Since the other side had gone to such lengths to infiltrate his base, the chances of recapturing that mech were already vanishingly small.
This time, he’d tried to steal a chicken and ended up losing the rice.
But with hostages in hand—how would they dare?
“Beep!” Gold Tooth activated the communicator in his hand. Before his eyes appeared a certain “captive,” legs crossed, leisurely watching the show.
“You’re good. Really good!” Gold Tooth stared at Nie Yun, his fury surging as he spoke through clenched teeth.
“Mm! Your hospitality is pretty nice—I’m doing quite well. But judging by things, you don’t seem to be doing so great. Sounds pretty lively outside?” Nie Yun said with a smile as he opened his eyes.
Gold Tooth glared viciously at Nie Yun. “I advise you to stop all unfriendly actions immediately, or I can’t guarantee you won’t be blown to pieces in the next moment!”
“Well, that’s a shame. I’m only responsible for starting them up. As for what they actually want to do—I’m curious myself.”
Nie Yun swore that was the honest truth.
Because of the distance, controlling the mechanical insects within the Wulff Empire consumed far more energy, so this was when the little guys needed to exercise their own initiative.
“You’re courting death!” Gold Tooth roared.
Hearing that, Nie Yun tilted his head back at forty-five degrees. “Alas! What joy is there in life, what bitterness in death? Pity us mortals—our troubles are many…”
“Bastard!” Before Nie Yun could finish, Gold Tooth smashed the communicator in a rage.
It couldn’t have been clearer—the guy was a suicide operative. From the way he spoke, he might even have been brainwashed by some religion… Fleet leader? All lies!
Thinking about it, that made sense. If they were clearly plotting against him, why would they really let an important figure fall into the enemy’s hands?
After weighing it over, Gold Tooth decided to keep the guy alive for now. Once the intruders were dealt with, he might be able to pry out which enemy was behind this scheme.
At the very least… he’d torture him before killing him!
But very soon, Gold Tooth no longer had the luxury of thinking about which methods of torture to use on Nie Yun…
“Boss! Those three armored units broke through our interception and have entered the base’s core area!”
“What?!”
Gold Tooth’s heart jumped—their speed was incredible!
The dock area was still relatively open, but inside the base, the structures were built within excavated asteroid tunnels. Once the enemy entered the core zone, large mechs and heavy weapons would be unusable.
And their target… there was no need to ask—it was definitely him!
“Useless trash! Send out the ‘Destroyer’! If you can’t stop them, don’t bother coming back!”
“Y-yes! Boss!”
…
“Hey! Tell me—where’s your boss?” the leader said, grabbing the neck of a shattered powered armor suit and shaking it.
The armor was in a miserable state: its right arm had already been blown off, sparks crackling from the broken stump. Around it, pirates lay strewn everywhere, with shattered armor fragments and blast marks visible all over the place.
The three or four pirates who had survived by sheer luck stared at the invader with terror in their eyes, as if looking at a demon.
After all, they weren’t a regular army. Pirate Marine infantry armor might look fierce, but it was only good for bullying merchant convoys. Against Nie Yun’s peak-tech Mithril Knights, it was nothing but a mantis trying to stop a chariot.
He hadn’t even used the more energy-hungry psionic abilities, yet had already swept aside everything that dared block his path.
“Ugh… ugh…” The pirate whose neck was being choked by the third brother struggled, trying to say something.
“Oh? Pretty tough! I admire men with backbone like you,” the leader praised him—and then tightened his grip.
Crack! The world fell silent.
The remaining pirates all shuddered.
Damn it! If you’re going to admire him, at least give him a chance to talk!
Dropping the lifeless captive, the leader turned to look at another surviving pirate who was lying on the ground not far away.
“Th-that way!”
Before he could even ask, the pale-faced pirate hurriedly pointed in a direction.
The fate of the previous unlucky guy had taught him something clearly… This was a lightning-round question! By the time the examiner asks, you’re already finished.
“Mm! I thought you guys were all hard cases. You’re not bad—now lead the way!” The third brother nodded in satisfaction.
With a guide in hand, the leader began pushing straight toward Gold Tooth’s location.
In the other tunnels, the remaining two each showed their own strengths.
Second Hair took the technical route, locating a data terminal and carrying out an electronic intrusion, successfully obtaining the base’s layout map.
The third brother was even more straightforward—plowing ahead head-on, deliberately charging into areas with the most people. He caused the biggest commotion, but in doing so also probed the enemy’s general troop deployment and defensive focus.
Though the three appeared to be fighting independently, they had long since been sharing intelligence over the network. After consolidating all the useful information, they quickly identified the real target and then rapidly moved to regroup.
…
Watching the three figures rampaging forward on the surveillance feed, Gold Tooth, commanding from the rear, couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat.
He truly hadn’t expected that just three intruders could wreak havoc across half the base as if no one were there, with his own forces unable to stop them for even a single exchange.
The performance of those three humanoid weapons far exceeded his imagination—and they even seemed to possess a considerable level of mechanical intelligence.
What terrified Gold Tooth even more was this: any force capable of such technology was clearly no small matter. When on earth had he provoked such a powerful enemy?
He’d been behaving himself lately, only hijacking a small merchant convoy with no real background. That shouldn’t have attracted an enemy like this, should it?
Could it be elite forces sent by the Empire, preparing to wipe out pirates like them once and for all?
“Is the ‘Destroyer’ in position yet?” he asked, forcibly suppressing the fear in his heart.
The Destroyer was loot they had acquired not long ago from a plundered merchant convoy—supposedly a high-end product imported from the Machine Race, and also one of Gold Tooth’s trump cards.
“It’ll take another three minutes. Each deployment of these top-tier weapons consumes a massive amount of energy, and our technicians have only just learned how to control them…”
“Then hurry up!” Gold Tooth cut him off impatiently.
“Yes!”
…
On the other side, after clearing out the cannon fodder along the way, the three leaders quickly regrouped on a mandatory route leading to their destination. They were now only one step away from the target.
But clearly, the pirates had not yet given up resistance.
Five oddly shaped robots came rolling in like blazing wheels.
Clang clang! After a series of metallic collisions, the blazing wheels disassembled, their forms suddenly shooting upward as they transformed into humanoid weapons roughly three meters tall, taking up attack stances.
These robots were extremely slender. Their heads were sharp cones, and though humanoid in shape, their limbs were curved blades, razor-sharp—light and dangerous in appearance.
“Oh? So this is the dungeon boss?” the leader said, his expression growing a bit more serious as he looked at the enemy combat power values displayed before his eyes.
The power of technological weapons was basically proportional to their internal energy reactions. By observing energy fluctuations, one could roughly judge an enemy’s combat strength.
If the previous fodder troops were barely worth five points, then these bizarre humanoid weapons clearly broke into the triple digits.
“Heh, heh! Finally, some opponents worth watching,” the third brother said excitedly. The core of the Mithril Knight he controlled began to roar, its energy fluctuations climbing steadily.
At that moment, a cocky voice rang out in all three of their ears. “Hahaha! Foolish intruders, this is the gift I’ve prepared for you. I hope you like it!”
Seeing his high-end combat units intercept the intruders, Gold Tooth finally felt at ease.
In his eyes, the Destroyers’ combat power was in no way inferior to that of the three invaders—and with a numerical advantage at that. This battle was practically a sure thing.
What he didn’t know was that the Mithril Knights hadn’t used anywhere near their full strength in the earlier fights…
Just as the three raised their guard, ready to go all out at any moment, the situation suddenly took an unexpected turn in the very next second.
The red light dots on the cone-shaped heads of the five “Destroyer” robots flashed as they locked onto the trio.
Beep! “Psychic fluctuations detected. Target units identified as intelligent mechanical lifeforms. Retrieving hidden directives… Beep! Target authorization level exceeds this unit’s clearance—Baron-class or higher privileged rank detected. Attack command automatically canceled!” ×5
Clang! The five Destroyers lowered their weapons in perfect unison and dropped to one knee.
“Uh…” ×3
Gold Tooth: “…”
