Chapter 565 Psionic Training Course

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

“These guys really never give anyone any peace of mind.”
Rolling his eyes inwardly in helpless exasperation, Nie Yun continued walking forward as if nothing were wrong.

Although these people were always flirting with disaster, as the saying goes, no madness, no breakthroughs. A vast number of scientific achievements had been forged precisely through countless near-suicidal experiments.

As for the losses… it was just an experimental base. With Nie Yun’s current financial muscle, he hardly cared. He could always have the mechanical bugs work some overtime later.

Mechanical bugs: “……”

Moving further inside, the three of them passed by all sorts of bizarre and unconventional experimental scenes, finishing a rough tour of the research department without disturbing anyone else.

“Mm! The research team’s enthusiasm is running high. Next, it’s time to hand you a new research topic,” Nie Yun said to Elder Yu.

“A new research topic?”
Elder Yu’s eyes lit up.

For minor projects, Nie Yun usually relayed instructions to the research department through Code Name. A “topic” proposed personally by the boss was anything but ordinary.

That not only meant a brand-new research field—it often also meant enormous research funding…

“Come on, I’ll take you somewhere,” Nie Yun said with a mysterious smile.

Atlantis, Security Department.

The three finally stopped in front of a strange room whose sign read: “Psionic Energy Training Class.”

Bang! Bang! Bang…

Dull, heavy impacts echoed from inside. Even the soundproofing of the high-grade alloy walls couldn’t completely block out the tremendous noise.

“This is…” Elder Yu’s heart stirred as he looked at the plaque.

“Psionic energy,” in other words, mental power—this term had been deliberately coined to mislead the Twin Stars. However, compared to the rapid advances made in other technologies, Elder Yu and the others had been completely at a loss when it came to this brand-new, utterly unobservable force, making no real progress at all.

“Heh. No need to ask—go in and see for yourself,” Nie Yun said with a faint smile.

Hiss—

The metal doors slid open automatically, revealing to Elder Yu a vast, open plaza-like space.

At the center of the plaza, two silver figures were locked in combat, producing thunderous noise.

Elder Yu was quite familiar with those two figures—they were the Mithril Knights he had personally helped design!

Only, some details seemed different. It was clear that Nie Yun had made further improvements.

Bang bang bang…

Dodging and weaving, fists and kicks colliding, the two figures turned into afterimages, clashing at speeds almost invisible to the naked eye. Violent gusts tore through the air, and every exchange of blows produced explosive sonic booms, like a duel between legendary martial arts masters!

The Mithril Knight with a “3” marked on its chest was clearly more skilled—its attacks were sharper and faster, each punch aimed at vital points. By contrast, the opponent marked with the character “Da” (Big) could only defend passively, struggling to hold on.

Yet for some unknown reason, despite holding the advantage, the “3” Knight would repeatedly stutter at critical moments, as if lagging for an instant, losing its speed advantage and allowing its opponent to escape the attack range.

“The boss brought me here just to watch this fight?”
A hint of doubt arose in Elder Yu’s mind.

Although the battle before him was intense and impressive, given Elder Yu’s current perspective, it was impressive—but no more than that.

Bang!

After defending for so long, a mistake was inevitable. The disadvantaged fighter took a heavy punch and was sent flying far away, a deep fist imprint left on its chest.

But in the next moment, something astonishing happened.

The flying figure suddenly halted mid-air, forcibly stopping its momentum. Then, in blatant violation of physical laws, it shot back toward its opponent, and the two became entangled once more.

What was more, the “Big” Knight’s movements grew increasingly erratic. At times, it could even shift sideways in mid-air with no point of leverage whatsoever, as if it had completely shaken off the effects of gravity—moving like a ghost!

“Huh? This is… a magnetic field? No! That’s not it! Magnetic forces can’t switch force-field directions this fast, nor achieve such precise control!” Elder Yu’s eyes widened in shock.

But he quickly reacted, recalling the sign at the entrance. He cried out involuntarily:

“Could this be… telekinesis?!”

Within the materials Nie Yun had provided under the “Psionic Energy Series,” telekinesis was precisely one of the manifestations of mental power!

Before Elder Yu could even finish being astonished, a shocking change suddenly occurred on the field!

Several meters behind the “3” Knight, a thin, gaunt shadow eerily materialized out of thin air—like a ghost silently and swiftly closing in on its target!

Slash!

A pitch-black dagger stabbed forward with vicious force, aimed straight at the “3” Knight’s neck!

At that very moment, the previously unaware “3” Knight seemed to sense something and twisted its body sharply.

Szz—

The dagger carved a deep groove across the Knight’s back, sending up a spray of dazzling sparks!

Clack!

The “3” Knight’s reaction was astonishing. Almost the instant it realized it had been ambushed, its hands shot backward, accurately gripping the attacker’s arm.

“Hah!”

With a fierce shout, the attacker was violently hurled forward toward the “Big” Knight ahead, moving as fast as thunder and wind!

However, the opposing Knight spread its hands wide. Mid-flight, the “human projectile” suddenly shuddered as a strange, invisible force bounced it high into the air. Moments later, the figure vanished again, retreating back into concealment like a venomous snake lying in wait!

“This… this shouldn’t be possible. The Mithril Knights are equipped with micro-detection devices. Even optical invisibility shouldn’t be able to evade all other detection methods. Logically speaking, an ambush like this shouldn’t succeed at all,” Elder Yu thought, another question surfacing in his mind as someone intimately familiar with the Knights’ specifications.

The exchange between the three was lightning-fast. Though it seemed lengthy, only a few short seconds had actually passed.

Clap! Clap!

At that moment, Nie Yun smiled and clapped his hands, drawing everyone’s attention.

The two fighters immediately ceased combat, and the previously invisible attacker revealed himself, the number “2” clearly marked on his chest.

With a few agile leaps, the three landed before the group. The visors on their helmets lifted, revealing three familiar faces—it was the Ghost Knight trio, who had been missing for quite some time.

“Boss!”
“Boss!”

The three stood respectfully. Though traces of fatigue showed on their faces, their eyes were bright and spirited—far clearer than they had been months ago.

“Elder Yu, these are the first batch of trainees from the Psionic Energy Training Class,” Nie Yun said with a smile.

Mental power was one of the key directions Nie Yun had chosen to expand his hard power, so he naturally placed great importance on it. Long ago, he had already mass-produced and distributed training manuals.

Including Catherine and Rose, numerous “guinea pigs” were exploring this brand-new path for him, accumulating a considerable amount of experimental data.

As his “designated test subjects,” the Boss Trio had naturally joined the secret experiments early on. Nie Yun had named the program the “Psionic Energy Training Class,” and the three of them were its very first students.

“So this is the practical application of mental power? Definitely worth researching! But it seems their manifestations of power aren’t the same?” Elder Yu said excitedly, yet with lingering doubts.

“Correct. Mental power is like a new form of energy—its applications are naturally quite diverse,” Nie Yun nodded.

Due to differences in personality, the Boss Trio each specialized in different applications of mental power.

The eldest focused on telekinesis—using it both on himself to perform all sorts of unbelievable movements, and on enemies to suppress their actions. His tactics were extremely flexible.

The second specialized in stealth, using mental power to envelop his entire body and block the vast majority of detection instruments. Combined with the Mithril Knight’s optical camouflage, he became a true battlefield assassin!

As for the third, he used mental power to enhance his neural reaction speed and sharpen his intuition, boosting his personal combat ability by a significant margin.

To achieve results in a short time, the three not only trained their new abilities relentlessly, but Nie Yun also invested a substantial amount of Water of Life to expand their potential and heal hidden mental injuries incurred during experimentation. Only then were their abilities finally pushed to a practical stage—an effort that spoke volumes of his dedication.

“Next, I have a new mission for you. I’ve discovered a new civilization, and its environment suits you well—though it’s quite far away.

If we deploy you using remote control technology, the mental energy consumption will be considerable. At present, only the three of you basically meet the requirements,” Nie Yun said to them.

Compared to the investment, the combat power increase brought by the trio seemed almost negligible—but Nie Yun’s goal was far more than simply boosting their fighting strength.

Within that vast and distant empire, he needed some helpers…

“A new civilization?”
The three perked up immediately.

They loved map-unlocking missions most of all, because the boss’s frontier rewards were always the most generous.

“Boss! Leave it to us—my fists are already itching for action!” the third said with a grin.

“Mm. Also, the three of you will need to cooperate with Elder Yu in further research on mental power, to find more broadly applicable training methods. If possible, the next step will be to expand enrollment for the Psionic Energy Training Class.”

“Don’t worry, boss—we’ve got plenty of experience in that department!” the eldest thumped his chest confidently.

After all, ever since meeting Nie Yun, they had either been being experimented on, or on the way to the laboratory
