Chapter 505: Armor-Piercing Weapons

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

To break the unfavorable situation for their side, they had to destroy at least one of the enemy’s two firepower platforms — either the Immortal or the composite warship. Only by doing this could they break Nie Yun’s long-range firepower advantage and reduce the casualties of their own fleet during close-range engagements.

However, the Immortal was currently using the newly acquired supplies to rapidly recover its injuries. At the same time, it was serving as the hangar and supply point for the mecha army, staying very low-profile in the rear to support the formation.

Whether it was the Immortal itself, the Water of Life, or the remnants of the Kara civilization inside it, all held immense value to Nie Yun — they were under absolute top-level protection. Naturally, Nie Yun would prioritize minimizing the risk of it being attacked.

Because of this, the composite warship centered around the Sea Wolf became even more prominent. If the Gemini forces wanted to attack the Immortal at the rear, they would first have to face this powerful "Revolver of Death."

Through battlefield observation, Isar finally realized that the main cannon of the Hou Yi-class warship was indeed deadly. Its power, once combined into formation, became terrifyingly amplified.

But with gains come sacrifices — this warship design focused all efforts on enhancing the main cannon’s firepower to the extreme, making it almost a "gunboat." The cost, inevitably, was sacrificing performance in other areas — such as anti-air capabilities!

Deploying a swarm of mechas against a warship with single-dimensional firepower was more than appropriate!

"Order our mecha units to disengage from the enemy’s aerial forces, break off from combat as soon as possible, and execute the second battle plan. Prioritize attacking the enemy’s rear warships!" Isabel ordered decisively.

Following her command, two dazzling signal flares — one red, one blue — were immediately launched from the Avian flagship...

In the central battlefield, both sides’ air forces were locked in fierce combat. But it was clear to any observer that the tide of victory was slowly tilting in favor of the Earth forces.

As the combat patterns of the Gemini drones were deciphered, their threat to the Sword Immortal mechas sharply decreased, and the losses in Gemini’s mecha forces continued to rise.

Although Nie Yun’s mecha army was also operating under an unmanned combat mode and lacked the flexibility of the Gemini’s, their team coordination and mech performance were superior.

They usually moved in synchronized formations, covering one another, and fired in perfect unison to achieve results — so precise they seemed like a single entity.

Adding to this was their floating cannon system, which multiplied their firepower several times. Gemini’s mechas were almost constantly being locked onto from all directions by floating cannons.

These unmanned mechas fought fearlessly, often choosing to self-destruct just to take down an enemy mech with them. This brought considerable psychological pressure to the Gemini pilots.

At one corner of the battlefield, dozens of large energy beams suddenly blasted toward a more intact unit of Gemini mechas.

"Boom boom boom!" Over a dozen Gemini mechs exploded instantly on the spot!

On this battlefield, the only unit capable of such a concentrated barrage was the traitorous former Sea Clan flagship.

At this moment, it was heavily protected by Sword Immortal mechas and unleashing a furious storm of firepower against the surrounding Gemini forces. Wherever the enemy was most concentrated, it would fire a volley and shatter their formation.

Right after the volley, a silver figure burst forth from its side — it was the Swordsman mecha that had previously issued the battle challenge!

The silver mecha shot like lightning into the disorganized enemy formation that had just suffered the barrage. It swung its silver longsword at an oncoming Wanderer mech...

Curiously, this silver sword wasn’t sharpened. Instead, strange energy patterns shimmered on its blade, forming a unique light edge only two to three millimeters thick.

"Slash!" The sword drew a sweeping arc — the Wanderer mech’s shield tore like paper and was easily penetrated!

The sword cut through like a hot knife through butter, slicing through anything in its path — cleanly and effortlessly.

In the blink of an eye, the two mechas crossed paths, but the Wanderer was now split diagonally from its left shoulder to its right hip — cut clean in half.

"Impossible!" The Gemini pilot inside that mech stared wide-eyed. He barely had time to cry out before being engulfed in flames...

"Boom!"

"It’s... it's a shield-piercing weapon!" The surrounding Gemini pilots exclaimed in shock when they saw the silver mecha slice through a force-field shield with a single strike.

This kind of special weapon capable of breaking through force-field shields was, of course, not unfamiliar to the Gemini people — for example, the standard weapon of the Sea Storm-class mecha: the Ship-Cleaving Blade!

That’s right — this armor-piercing weapon was one of the technological gains Nie Yun had acquired from the Sea Storm-class mecha.

The Sea Storm-class mecha that Nie Yun had specifically won back as a wager was valuable not for its powerful combat capability, but for the red Ship-Cleaving Blade that served as its exclusive weapon!

The blade's material was extremely special. After undergoing a complex refinement process, once infused with energy, it could generate a unique cutting force-field.

This cutting force-field was not only effective against physical objects, but also had formidable shield-breaking capabilities. At present, it was the only technological weapon Nie Yun knew of that could use a special force-field to counter another force-field!

Even within the Gemini civilization itself, the Ship-Cleaving Blade was considered a top-tier piece of technology.

However, its production process was extremely intricate, and seemed to involve some unknown special elements. With Nie Yun’s current level of technology, it was completely impossible to replicate the blade through standard metallurgical or industrial means.

Thus, the only current method of reproducing this type of "armor-piercing weapon" was to use mechanical bug materials!

While ordinary materials couldn’t withstand the immense energy involved, mechanical bug materials handled it with ease. As a result, producing small batches of such weapons was well within Nie Yun’s capabilities.

Nie Yun and Elder Yu, along with other scientists, were also actively exploring the possibility of mass-producing these armor-piercing weapons.

If the Ship-Cleaving Blade could be widely deployed, then with Nie Yun’s thousands-strong mecha army, they might just be able to chase down and hack apart the entire Gemini fleet...

At this moment, the devastating power of the armor-piercing weapon was being vividly demonstrated through the Swordsman mecha personally controlled by Nie Yun!

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

A silver flash darted back and forth through the Gemini mecha formation. It wasn’t just incredibly fast — its tactical maneuvers were agile and precise. Everywhere the silver figure passed, it left behind either a blinding fireball or a shattered, smoldering mech wreck.

Occasionally, a Gemini attack would land a hit on the high-speed silver mecha — but it would only create a ripple on its shield, slightly dimming it, with minimal real effect.

In just a matter of minutes, a small unit of dozens of mechas had begun to collapse under the relentless barrage and the Swordsman’s brutal assault.

Faced with a Swordsman whose combat performance surpassed even the Sea Storm-class, the Gemini pilots retreated one after another. Their momentum was completely crushed, and none dared advance again.

Then, they saw the red and blue flares fired from their own flagship...

“Execute the second combat plan — attack the enemy’s rear fleet! Let’s go!”

The relieved pilots didn’t hesitate — they immediately turned around and left.

Beyond this combat zone, other Gemini mecha units were also maneuvering, trying their best to disengage from the chaos and accelerate toward the rear of Nie Yun’s fleet.

The sudden withdrawal of a large number of mechas caused tremendous pressure on the remaining Gemini drone units, and their losses began to rise once again!

Isabel’s strategy would undoubtedly accelerate the collapse of the central battlefield, effectively sacrificing the remaining forces to buy time for her decapitation operation.

However, disengaging would also come at a steep cost. Nie Yun’s forces weren’t going to just sit back and let them retreat.

“Finally couldn’t hold back, huh?”

The silver mecha hovered in the void. Watching the enemy mechas withdraw through his external visual feed, Nie Yun smiled knowingly — completely unsurprised.
