Super Mothership
“Beep, beep, beep~”
The Sea Wolf’s precision fire-control system continuously locked onto one hostile target after another, instantly transmitting targeting data to the Hou Yi-class ships.
Adjust turret angle—fire!
Lock onto the next target—adjust angle again—fire!
Five Hou Yi-class ships took turns firing in volleys. Every single second, hundreds of beams shot toward the enemy. Nie Yun used just five warships to weave a dense web of firepower rivaling that of an entire fleet.
Because the area that needed defending was smaller, this anti-air perimeter was even denser than the Feather Clan fleet’s.
The fleeting beams, endless and unbroken, fanned out toward the Gemini mecha units, like the legendary Pegasus Meteor Fist…
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Explosions spread through the Gemini mecha forces, blazing like a wildfire.
As the core of this composite warship group, the Sea Wolf did not directly engage in combat—but its energy supply and massive data-processing capacity made it the unquestionable “brain” and “heart” of this firepower platform.
It could lock onto nearly a thousand enemy targets at once, assign attack tasks in the most efficient manner, and maximize the use of allied three-dimensional firepower.
As the distance between the two sides closed, Gemini’s casualties grew heavier—over 200 mechs were destroyed before their vanguard even brought the enemy into attack range.
Through the deadly weave of fire, a few lucky mechs managed to break through and launch their attack…
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!” Seven or eight strikes landed on the composite warship at the front. A blue shield shimmered into view, rippling slightly like raindrops falling on a calm pond.
“…This…”
A veteran Gemini pilot widened his eyes in shock. From experience, he knew this sight usually meant the attack had barely scratched the surface—just enough to break through the first layer of defense.
Even if the mechs’ firepower was a bit weak, the enemy’s defense far exceeded that of an ordinary warship.
In truth, while the Hou Yi-class had weak defense, the Sea Wolf had just been upgraded with a large-scale forcefield shield—technology that, needless to say, Nie Yun had “copied” from the Sea Clan fleet.
And by using mechanical bugs as construction material, the shield system’s protection had been greatly enhanced, with overload resistance improved by more than 30%!
The mechanical bugs turned the enemy’s technological advantage into their own strength, growing stronger the longer they fought.
With the bugs’ material bonuses, the copied tech was even a tad stronger than the original—surpassing the master was just routine for Nie Yun.
But for the enemy, it created the unnerving illusion: “Damn, the enemy seems to be a whole tier above us!”
Seeing that the desperate breakthrough attacks barely harmed the enemy shield—possibly doing less damage than the shield’s recovery rate—Gemini pilots began to crack.
“No good! The enemy’s fire is too dense, I can’t even find a gap to slip through! We can’t break in at all!”
“Support! Request immediate support from the fleet! Why hasn’t the rear arrived yet?!”
“Damn it! My squad’s already taken over 50% losses—what the hell is this monster of a warship? Do its cannons never need to cool down?!”
“Quick! Scatter and retreat—it’s a trap, they’re luring us in!”
“…”
The feeling of dancing with death made their skin crawl. Watching comrades get blasted apart one after another, the psychological pressure pushed the Gemini pilots to the edge of panic.
Jammed battlefield communications only made things worse. Facing an unexpected crisis, the Gemini pilots became completely disorganized—some wanted to gamble everything on a suicide charge, others tried to organize a retreat. With the Sea Clan and Feather Clan still unwilling to submit to unified command, internal tensions only deepened. Their once-disciplined attack formation immediately fell into disarray.
This made it even easier for Nie Yun’s “Death Gatling” to handle the enemy, focusing fire on the most threatening mechs first.
In less than fifteen minutes, this wave of mech assault was shattered by the composite warships’ “shotgun mode.” The Gemini forces lost over half their units, and once the formation broke, the remaining mechs posed almost no threat to Nie Yun.
Seeing this, Nie Yun continued directing precise shots at the scattered Gemini mechs—while also deploying his final “Reapers”…
“Whoosh, whoosh!”
Two silver mechs were simultaneously catapulted from within the Hou Yi-class warships.
With uniquely shaped silver longswords strapped to their backs, their sudden appearance made every Gemini pilot’s heart jolt.
These high-end enemy mechs, whose combat power was no less than the Sea Storm-class and equipped with armor-piercing weapons, had already proven their might to Gemini pilots in previous battles. And now, the enemy had deployed ten of them at once…
If it were a fair fight, just ten top-tier mechs could be taken down by sheer numbers—Gemini had enough forces to swarm them to death.
But now, trapped and dying within the enemy’s web of firepower, who still had the capability to organize a large-scale encirclement? Gathering together would just be suicide!
The ten Swordsman-class mechs split up the moment they appeared, diving into the Gemini formation and unleashing a new wave of death.
With overwhelming performance, the Swordsman mechs truly lived up to the phrase “killing within ten steps, never staying a thousand miles”—moving in pairs, they roamed freely through enemy ranks, reaping lives without pause.
The arrival of the Swordsman mechs became the last straw that broke the camel’s back. The Gemini mecha force lost all will to fight and fell into a panicked, disorderly retreat.
The battle was decided!
Seeing that the threat was essentially neutralized, the composite warships that had been firing madly slowly lowered their red-hot gun barrels, and the barrage ceased.
Then, the composite warships in “shotgun mode” slowly unfolded, adjusted their posture, and gradually returned to their previous pentagram formation.
The densely packed turrets retracted in unison, as if their mission was complete, and the Hou Yi-class ships regained their smooth, elegant silver mirror armor.
Finishing the deed, dusting off the sleeves, hiding both body and name.
Like a peerless swordsman sheathing his blade—its sharpness concealed, yet all the more intimidating for it.
Though the remaining Gemini mechs still numbered just over 200, they were scattered and no one dared to attempt a counterattack. They had been thoroughly terrified by the earlier barrage.
What if… this is another trap?
…
Elsewhere, seeing their plan to strike the enemy’s rear collapse and their air forces nearly wiped out, the Sea Clan fleet slammed the brakes—virtually halting their advance.
They couldn’t help it—hadn’t that terrifying “Death Revolver” just reappeared? And now the barrels were aiming at them again!
With the Feather Clan fleet still entangled by enemy mechs, if the already-battered Sea Clan fleet faced the Immortal and the composite warships—two terrifying super gun platforms—alone, charging in would mean… the entire fleet being annihilated.
No, absolutely not!
With their commander already dead, they had to preserve what remained to uncover the truth!
…
“Bang!” Isabel’s fist slammed into the metal armrest.
The pain in her hand couldn’t ease the bitterness in her heart.
Just a little longer! If the Feather Clan fleet could have broken through the enemy mechs’ layered defense, they could have joined with the Sea Clan fleet to attack from both sides—victory would have been seventy-thirty, with Gemini holding the seventy.
But she hadn’t expected her mechs to collapse so quickly, nor the Sea Clan to retreat so decisively…
Now, Gemini had only about three sub-fleets left—fifty-odd warships in total. If the battle continued, the odds were still seventy-thirty… but now the enemy held the seventy!
The momentum of victory had completely reversed!
Should she gamble on that thirty percent chance?
But even if they won, how much strength would she have left afterward?
Or… should she preserve her forces, switch to defense, and wait for reinforcements?
As Isabel wavered between fighting and retreating, the “Sword Immortal” units around the Feather Clan fleet suddenly ceased fire. Then, covering each other, they quickly withdrew from the battle, voluntarily abandoning their encirclement of the central Feather Clan fleet.
Her fleet broke out of the encirclement with ease—but there was no joy on Isabel’s face.
Letting her fleet go meant that, without the support of air forces, the enemy wasn’t worried in the slightest that her warships could threaten them.
And with the enemy mechs still watching hungrily from the rear, if she couldn’t break through their lines quickly and the fight dragged on, she could easily end up caught between two fronts…
Troublesome…
Isabel racked her brains for a countermeasure—but at that moment, battlefield communications interference suddenly vanished.
“Lady Isabel, we’ve received an unknown communication request! It’s the Black Steward from the Unity of All Things Society!” her adjutant said in surprise.
The Black Steward? Is this… about to name their terms?
Isabel rubbed her temples and sighed inwardly.
