The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet

Chapter 333: Girl Talk

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

"Mmm... fuuunyaaahhh."

Kanade, submerged up to her shoulders in the bath, quivered her tail. Then, with a blissful expression, she relaxed her entire body.

"The bath feels great."

"Yes, it's a pleasant surprise to have such a large bath," Tania agreed, her cheeks slightly flushed from the heat as she smiled.

The group had been traveling for a week since leaving Krios, aiming for Kagune. During this time, they had camped out for five days and spent two nights at inns in small towns or villages along the road.

While camping, bathing was out of the question. There was no guarantee of a nearby lake for a quick dip, and at most, they could only wipe their bodies with a towel dampened with water.

Even when they could stay at an inn, small places often lacked a bath. The first inn they stayed at didn't have a bath, so they could only sleep.

However, the second inn had a proper bath installed, and the women were thoroughly enjoying their first bath in a while, beaming with happiness.

"Ahh... this is good hot water."

"Yes, it's so relaxing I might melt."

"A bath is a woman's lifeline," Chiffon, Millefeuille, and Chocolat, the hero party, were also indulging in the long-awaited bath. Despite there being no other guests, it was rare to find a bath that could accommodate so many people at once.

"Hmm."

Luna nodded in apparent understanding as she observed the three heroes.

"Pine, bamboo, plum... I see."

"Chocolat is part of Sora's group, isn't she?"

"Hey now, do you two care that much about size?"

"Of course!" Luna declared loudly, striking a pose.

"The size of the chest is a symbol of motherhood! Thus, all men in the world seek large breasts! Therefore, as women, we must strive to grow bigger! Don't you agree!?"

"Ohhh..." Nina clapped her hands in admiration of Luna's fervor.

"Oh, a comrade."

Chocolat, seemingly moved, reached out for a handshake with Luna. Luna silently grasped her hand firmly in response.

"We, the small chest alliance, shall eradicate those with envious mounds of fat!"

"We shall!"

"...Huh? Am I part of this too?" Before she knew it, Rifa's hand had been grabbed, pulling her into the alliance. She didn't resist enough to shake off their hold, and simply relaxed in the bath.

"It seems your party has its own dynamics."

"So does yours."

Tina and Millefeuille, seemingly hitting it off, enjoyed the bath side by side. Though Tina was a ghost, she somehow managed to enjoy the bath in spirit.

Beside them, Nina was also relaxing, her three fluffy tails gently swaying in the water.

"Hey."

"Yes?"

Kanade quietly spoke to Chiffon, with Tania joining in.

"You're a fan of Rain, right?"

"Could you call me Chiffon instead? It feels a bit distant. We're traveling together, after all. Besides, it's my request."

"Um... then call me Kanade."

"I'm fine with Tania."

Kanade and Tania seemed to appreciate Chiffon's straightforwardness.

"Thank you, Kanade, Tania."

"So, Chiffon, you're a fan of Rain, right?"

"Yes, that's right."

"How did you know so much about Rain?"

"When someone as accomplished as Rain is around, word of their exploits spreads even from a distance. I've been active as an A-rank adventurer, so I often heard such stories. Over time, I came to admire him."

"Nyaa... Is it just admiration?"

Kanade gave Chiffon a wary look, which Tania mirrored. Was Chiffon also in love with Rain? Was this a new rival?

Their attitudes made it clear. Chiffon, sensing their feelings, chuckled softly.

"Hmm... for now, it's just admiration."

"I see, that's good."

"For now...?"

"The future is uncertain. Even I don't know how things will turn out, so I can't make any promises."

"Nyaa... Chiffon, you're quite the tease?"

"Fufu, sorry."

While talking, Kanade and Tania gradually felt their wariness towards Chiffon fading. It wasn't about seeing her as a rival concerning Rain; rather, their doubt about whether Chiffon was truly a righteous hero was slowly dissipating.

Having spent a long time with the previous hero, Arios, Kanade and Tania couldn't immediately trust the new hero, Chiffon. They harbored doubts that Chiffon might be the same type of person as Arios.

However, after spending time together and sharing a bath—literally baring themselves—they started to let go of these doubts.

Being of the strongest species, Kanade and Tania had keen intuition. Their intuition told them that Chiffon was a good person.

"Well... even if Chiffon becomes a rival, that's okay."

"Huh?"

"Um, how should I put this? I feel like I could trust Rain to Chiffon... This might sound condescending, but that's not my intention. I just think that no matter what happens, I wouldn't regret it if it were Chiffon."

"We could build a healthy rivalry without any hard feelings. I agree with Kanade. I was thinking the same thing."

"...Hehe."

Chiffon smiled gently.

"Rain-kun has such wonderful companions."

"Hehehe, I might be bragging, but I am wonderful!"

"You really shouldn't say that yourself."

"Giggle."

The three of them laughed. The bond formed from their time together in the bath was evident, making Kanade, Tania, and Chiffon appear like long-time friends.

"But, that thing of yours is amazing."

"That thing?"

"Chiffon's thing, you know, that thing."

"Saying 'that thing' doesn't help. Use your words, vocab-challenged cat."

"I can't argue with that!"

"Could it be... the magic sword?"

"Yes, that's it! I've never heard of imbuing a sword with magic before."

"Me neither. I've traveled quite a bit, but I've never heard of such a technique."

"...Yeah, I suppose not."

Chiffon's expression turned somber at their words.

Did they say something wrong? Seeing Chiffon's face, Kanade and Tania felt a bit flustered.

"Um... sorry. Did I make you feel uncomfortable?"

"No, not at all. We're not bothered. We just wondered if we made you recall something unpleasant."

"A little... it reminded me of something."

"Is it okay if we ask what it is?"

"Yes, I'd like you to know."

Chiffon began to speak, her gaze distant as if recalling the past.

"My magic sword technique is a tradition from my homeland. It's not something everyone can use... it's a special technique passed down to a select few."

"Nyaa...?"

A unique technique passed down in a single place. It sounded familiar to Kanade. She thought it over and realized it was similar to Rain's story.

Just as there is a hidden village of beast tamers, it wasn't surprising that there could be a hidden village that passed down magic sword techniques. Kanade understood this.

However, something concerned her. Like Rain before, Chiffon wore a sorrowful expression.

"Um... can I ask? What happened to your homeland, Chiffon?"

"It's gone."

With a mix of sadness, regret, anguish, and anger on her face, Chiffon answered briefly. Submerging her shoulders in the water, she looked up at the steamy ceiling and, closing her eyes, spoke of the past.

"One day, it was attacked by monsters... and that was the end."

"I see."

"So, Chiffon too..."

Kanade and Tania looked troubled. Seeing their expressions, Chiffon quickly forced a smile.

"Oh, don't worry about it. It happened a long time ago, and I've come to terms with it... I'm okay now."

"Nyaa... if you ever need anything, just tell me. I'll help however I can."

"Me too. I'd like to support you, Chiffon."

"Thank you."

Chiffon thanked them and, once again enjoying the bath, stretched out her arms and legs in the spacious tub, a smile on her face.

"Nyaa..."

However, from Kanade's perspective, Chiffon's smile still had a shadow to it. Unlike Rain, she seemed to remain trapped by her past.
