The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet

Chapter 331 Traveling with the hero party

(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)

We left Krios behind, heading for Kagune, a town at the easternmost end of the Eastern Continent.

Unfortunately, it seems there is no gate near Kagune that leads to the Spirit Tribe's village, so we can't travel there instantly. Thus, we have no choice but to walk.

Although we could use a carriage, Sora and Luna pleaded tearfully, so we gave up on that idea. Everyone, including Chiffon, willingly accepted that we would be traveling on foot.

Are they really heroes? I can't help but think so because they're so different from Arios and the others.

"Hey, hey, Rain."

As we walked along the highway, Chiffon came up beside me.

"Rain, you're a Beast Tamer, right?"

"Yeah, as you can see."

I glanced back. Two bears, loaded with our luggage, were walking behind us. They are bears I tamed to carry our stuff.

"Do those bears follow all your commands?"

"More or less."

"Can they dance or perform tricks?"

"...Not exactly."

They can't follow commands for things they inherently can't do. Well, with time and training, they might be able to, but that would make them more like circus animals than beasts tamed by a Beast Tamer.

"That's amazing."

"Huh? What is?"

"It's amazing that you can command bears like that. I think being a Beast Tamer is incredible, or maybe it's just that you're incredible, Rain?"

"Why do you say that?"

No one has ever told me being a Beast Tamer is amazing. It's considered the weakest class, only capable of support roles.

I'm quite surprised that Chiffon would say such a thing.

"Do you think so? I believe Beast Tamers are amazing."

When I honestly expressed my surprise, Chiffon looked puzzled. She wasn't just being considerate; she genuinely seemed to believe it.

"Because you can control animals, right? Truly amazing Beast Tamers can even control monsters. Normal people can't do that. If you can do that, you can do all sorts of things."

"Really?"

"Yes. Like what you're doing now, having them carry our luggage. It's very important. On a journey, food and water are essential, and someone has to carry them. But if they get tired, they can't participate in battle, which reduces our fighting strength. Only a Beast Tamer can solve this problem, right?"

"Well, when you put it that way, I guess so... hmm."

After being called useless so many times, it's hard to grasp the idea of being praised. True, my abilities as a Beast Tamer are said to be exceptional, but it's due to my lineage. If I were an ordinary person, I couldn't do this much.

"Anyway... let's talk about you, Chiffon."

"About me?"

"I'm interested in Chiffon the Hero."

"About me? Haha, I see. Thank you."

Why the thanks?

"But there's not much to tell. I only recently became a Hero, and I haven't achieved any great feats like you, Rain."

She's quite modest. I'd love to let Arios hear this.

"It seems to me that you have plenty of potential to achieve great things, Chiffon."

"Do you think so? Hehe. Hearing that from you, Rain, makes me happy. It makes me want to try harder."

"Then I have to work hard too, so I won't lose. We've become friends, so I want us to be able to push each other to greater heights."

"You mean like rivals who read each other's minds?"

"Something like that."

"That sounds great."

We laughed together and continued our leisurely conversation as we walked down the road.

"Nyau...!"

"Ngugugu...!"

Kanade and Tania were watching Rain and Chiffon’s conversation from a slight distance, looking resentful. Both of them bit onto handkerchiefs they had somehow procured, looking extremely frustrated.

"Look, look, Tania! Just now, she blushed!"

"She just shows up out of nowhere and tries to steal our positions... Ah, humans are so...!"

They were concerned about Rain and Chiffon. However, since they had no particular reason to intervene, they couldn't call out to them. An odd atmosphere had formed, making it difficult to break in between the two.

Both Kanade and Tania felt quite frustrated and helpless.

Walking behind them, Sora and Luna seemed relatively calm. They walked leisurely, chatting with Chocolat.

"I see, I see. Being a tank is quite a demanding role."

"Yeah, it can be pretty tough."

"Since we are in the rear guard, we rarely come to the front lines. I think it's amazing that you fulfill your tank role so well, Chocolat."

"Heh heh heh, it's not all that bad."

They seemed to get along well, sharing a unique atmosphere. Smiling, they enjoyed their conversation.

"By the way, are you two okay with this?"

"Hm? What do you mean?"

"I mean Rain and Chiffon. If they spend time alone, their relationship might progress. Are you okay with that, Sora and Luna?"

Chocolat, despite appearing absent-minded, was observant. Sora and Luna were slightly surprised by her insight. As expected from a member of the Hero's party, she was not to be underestimated.

"Indeed. We are not in a hurry."

"Unlike Kanade and Tania, openly displaying our feelings would be futile. We prefer to take our time and proceed cautiously."

"Oh, that's surprisingly calculated."

"Fufufu, praise us more!"

"As expected of the Spirit Tribe. You’re amazing."

"Fwahahaha!"

Chocolat praised Luna, who puffed out her chest and laughed heartily. The two got along quite well.

"Rain."

"Hm?"

While walking at the front with Chiffon, I felt a tug on my clothes. When I turned around, Rifa was standing right beside me.

"What's wrong?"

"Enemies."

"What?"

For a moment, I was dumbfounded... but I quickly understood the meaning of her words, stopped walking, and looked around.

I couldn't see any people or monsters. I closed my eyes and focused.

"...I can't sense any presence."

"Hey, Rifa, are you sure there are enemies?"

Chiffon also seemed unsure and asked Rifa.

However, I trust Rifa. She's not the kind of person to lie about this... and more importantly, she's my comrade. If I don't believe her, who will?

"Chiffon, there must be enemies."

"...Yeah, got it. I believe you too."

Chiffon drew her sword, ready for an attack at any moment. I'm glad she trusts us.

We remained on guard for a little while... then, a piercing hostility descended upon us from the sky, as if to crush us.
