The beast tamer exiled from the hero’s party and the cat eared girl from the strongest race meet
Chapter 309: Ironclad Guardian
(TL:By Rafael,valhallatls.blogspot.com)
When we emerged on the surface, we were right in front of the old castle.
In order, I, Kanade, Tania, and Rifa leaped out of the hole.
Then we pulled up Nina, Sora, Luna, and Tina.
"What...!?"
We emerged right in front of the old castle.
And there were several monsters in front of the gate.
One of them, a golem, let out a surprised sound.
Well, it's no wonder they're surprised. If people suddenly come out of the ground, I'd be surprised too.
"Humans and the strongest species... I see, so you lot are intruders."
The golem quickly regained its composure.
This intimidation, this calmness... It's probably a well-known monster. Since it's not a demon, it feels like they're entrusted with guarding the old castle, right?
"How did you manage to slip through our encirclement?"
"As you can see, we moved underground."
Perhaps because the oni tribe lives in Krios, this land had changed due to the magical power emitted by them, creating a special environment. Therefore, many animals had grown larger.
We gathered up the enlarged moles, tamed them, and had them dig through the ground... that's how it went. However, even with large moles, it was tough for even them to dig a hole large enough for a person to pass through, so it took some time. But thanks to that, we were able to cut deep into the enemy's territory without encountering any enemies or consuming unnecessary physical or magical energy.
"What a ridiculous idea... While it might be a joke to come up with it, to actually execute it..."
When I told him about the moles, the golem let out a bewildered sound. I couldn't really tell because his expression didn't change, but it seemed like he was amazed.
"I can understand his feelings."
"I mean, who would think to come through the ground normally?"
"Rain's abilities are extraordinary, but his way of thinking is also strange."
For some reason, everyone seemed to understand the enemy. Weird, right? I think I came up with a pretty good idea, even if I do say so myself...
"There, there."
"Keep it up."
I was comforted by Nina and Rifa, the younger ones.
"However, we've received reports from our subordinates that you suddenly burst out and disappeared. What about that?"
"Oh... that was just a decoy."
I thought it might not be a good idea to tell them everything, but unconventional tactics like this usually only work once. They wouldn't work on someone who had seen them before. So I decided to be honest and tell them.
"Sora and Luna used magic to create illusions of us."
"Illusions? I've never heard of autonomous illusions like that."
"We set the illusion magic projection on the back of a monitor lizard. Then we tamed the lizard and let it run around randomly. Since the ground is covered with vegetation, you wouldn't notice that there's an illusion magic set on the back of the lizard unless you pay close attention. When the magic's duration expired, it ended... that's how it went."
The golem held his head in his hands and swayed. What's wrong with him?
"I think he's astonished by Rain's absurdity."
"Yes. Even we, who are knowledgeable about magic, didn't think of setting illusion magic on a lizard's back."
"That's what the spirit girl there said. To have such an idea... Where did you leave your common sense?"
"Don't say it like that I have no common sense."
"But it's True."
"True."
Kanade and Tania said without hesitation.they've been silent all this time but chose to speak now, whose side are they on?
"Of course, we're on Rain's side, but your lack of common sense can be quite surprising."
"Even though we're enemies, I understand the feeling of being surprised or amazed."
"Absolutely..."
I thought these kinds of exchanges had decreased recently... There still seems to be differences in our perceptions. I wish they'd get used to it already.
"Well, enough small talk... Will you let us pass?"
"Ridiculous. I am the gatekeeper of this gate. I cannot allow even a single ant to pass through to that person."
The golem clenched his fist. In response, creatures that seemed to be his subordinates deployed around him.
"I've just met you, but I don't really dislike you."
Without resorting to unexpected moves or using unfair tactics, the golem faced us straight on as a gatekeeper. He seemed like an honorable warrior.
"What a coincidence. I rather like you too. It would be a waste to kill a human like you."
"Thank you."
"If you're thinking of turning back right now, I'll overlook this. What will you do?"
"Do you think I'll turn back?"
"I don't think so."
"Then... shall we?"
"Yes!"
With a bark-like response, the golem answered, and the battle began.
――――――――――
"Kanade, Sora, and Rifa, stick with me! The rest of you handle the others, I'm counting on you!"
"Understood!!!"
Responding promptly to my instructions, everyone took up their positions.
Kanade, Sora, and Rifa stood by my side.
While Tania, Luna, Nina, and Tina spread out behind us, engaging with the other monsters.
"We won't let Rain be obstructed!"
"Take this!"
First, Tania unleashed a fireball, followed by Luna casting a similar flame magic.
The raging inferno engulfed several monsters, turning them into charcoal.
"Go, Nina!"
"Okay...!"
Settling into her usual position above Nina's head, Tina generated a rod of light and a sphere of light using her magic.
She shot the sphere of light with the rod of light...
Then, swinging the rod of light with all her might, she hurled it at the enemy.
Caught off guard by this two-pronged attack, the monsters couldn't dodge the rod of light even if they avoided the sphere of light, resulting in a direct hit to the head and their subsequent collapse.
"Well done...!"
As the monsters attempted to distance themselves from Tina's unconventional attack, Nina wouldn't allow it.
By connecting to a subspace, she grabbed the monsters' legs, interfering with their movements.
Meanwhile, Tina's attacks rained down explosively...
It was a splendid cooperation.
Lately, it seemed like the two of them were getting along better and better.
I wonder if Tina finds Nina's head the most comfortable place to be?
"Rain, here I go."
"Yeah. Rifa, I'm counting on you too!"
"Got it."
We also had to do our best.
Running alongside Rifa, we started together.
At first, we kept our shoulders aligned.
As we approached the golem, we distanced ourselves significantly, spreading out left and right.
Then, we launched our attack as if sandwiching it.
"Fireball!"
"Blood Scythe!"
I exploded magic at the golem's feet to immobilize it and simultaneously created a dust cloud for distraction.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Rifa generated a blood scythe and swung it.
*Giiin!*
"Huh!?"
As the dust settled, we saw the golem deflecting Rifa's blood scythe.
It wasn't doing anything special, just standing there calmly.
Perhaps because its armor was too thick and sturdy, the blade couldn't penetrate and was deflected.
"You're too naive, little oni girl!"
The golem's massive body moved.
Swinging its giant fist, it attempted to knock Rifa away.
"Rifa!"
Reacting instinctively, I shot Narukami's wire towards Rifa.
Understanding our intention, Rifa grabbed the wire.
Confirming this, I retracted the wire... a few moments later, the golem's arm shot out at where Rifa had been.
*Whoosh!* A gust of wind was created, making me shudder at its power just to think about it.
"Vortex Lance! Ignite Lance! Icicle Lance!"
Sora simultaneously unleashed three spells.
Thunder, flame, and ice spears assaulted the golem, causing a magical interference explosion.
A massive explosion rose to the sky.
A blast of heat swept over us, causing our hair and clothes to flutter.
If we didn't brace ourselves, we'd be blown away.
"If this much power...!"
"No, not yet."
Rifa readied her blood scythe once more.
At the end of her gaze... the unscathed golem emerged from the flames.
TL Note- Golem looks badass....
