Chapter 26-Kariya event ①

{SPONSORED CHAPTER-2}

(TL:By Rafael)

I arrived at school a little earlier than usual today, and the reason was obvious once I entered the classroom. Classmates were gathered around Akagi's seat, encouraging him to do his best.

Akagi responded to each of his classmates with a smile and a "thank you". Even on the day of the important duel, he didn't seem nervous and was able to respond well.

As soon as Kaworu entered the classroom, he joined the circle of people and encouraged them. He knew that for the past month, he had been accompanying Akagi on his dungeon dives and practice sessions, working hard until late. She must have been worried about this day, but she was still smiling and cheering him on, as if she were the heroine.

Butao's mind was no longer as sore as before when Kaworu approached Akagi, but it was still quite painful. I feel that Butao is teaching me that falling in love with someone is not something that can be forgotten easily.

In Akagi's weapon stand, there was a slim weapon in a cloth. You can't see what's inside, but I wonder if he's going to use it to fight. ...... You're not going to use the same strategy as in the game, are you? However, it seems unlikely that that strategy will not work in Kariya in this world.

(If the weapon in the middle is that thing, does that mean you know the ...... game strategy?)

I was in a whirlpool of thought for a while when the sliding door of the classroom opened with a bang.

"Oh, you E-class bastards. Let's see, who was that trash that shielded you from ......"

Kariya and his cronies suddenly entered the classroom. Kariya and his cronies suddenly walked into the classroom. They looked down on us with eyes that said there was no way we could lose. I'd like to slap them with the words, "The taller you are , the harder you fall". On the other hand, Akagi seems to be undaunted and determined.

"So. Where do you want to do it?

"Huh? Oh, it was you. I booked you a room in the arena after school, room four. Don't try to escape.

"Oh, yeah, his name was Akagi. Kariya-san, let's make an example out of you by beating you up."

We're in the same grade and about to start working hard at the same school. Class E has only been in the dungeon for a month, so it's not surprising that they think we are low level and weak. It's like an employee who has been with the company for a few years is competing with a new employee.

"Class E, you inferior students! You guys should definitely come. And I'll show you what your position is."

Kariya emits an "aura". A chill fills the classroom of class E.

I guess I'm still level 11. I'm not sure why the database doesn't show Kariya's information, so I don't know what level he's registered at, but if it's the same as in the game, it should be 11 . I don't use the 《Simple Appraisal》. If you use it, your opponent will know that you used it, so you have to be careful when you use it.

My classmates were intimidated by the aura of the strong, and some of them turned their heads. Now that I'm level 8, I'm not as intimidated as I used to be. But I can't stand it when they use the Aura so often.

(I think level 7 or 8 is the borderline when it comes to fighting Kariya. ......)

The terminal shows Akagi's level as 5. It's possible that he's hiding his level like I am, but if he's level 5, it's going to be difficult for him to win unless he's a very skilled player.

If Kariya wins, he'll probably be forced to do some D-class chores, and I hope Akagi-kun does well.

 *...*...*...*...*...*

During lunch, the agitation from D class continued.

"You're in E class, but you're really fighting against our class?

"You don't know your place, do you? There's no way you can beat Kariya-kun.

"Maybe we should join in the fight against Class E.

"That sounds like a good idea.

Class D proclaims loudly from nearby that Class E is ridiculous in the school cafeteria. The girl, a classmate who wants to be a fighter, pulls her shoulders and manages to endure.Omiya-san and Nitta-san are also quieting her down by distracting her with another story.

After the morning's visit to Kariya, the classmates discussed it and came to the conclusion that they would all put up with the continued agitation. ...... Of course, there is no way that all of Class E can be patient.

"Shut up, you guys are in the bottom of the middle school class too.

It's Mashima-kun, a samurai. He's a hard worker, but he's also very proud, and he probably couldn't stand being unreasonably looked down upon. It is true that D class is the lowest class among the internal students, but compared to the ability of the external students, E class, the difference is huge.

"Huh? What is this guy? Shall I beat him up right now?

"Let's do it! Even though you're in E class, it's going to be bad if we eat at the same place~.

"You're too cocky for a newbie."

A group of impatient classmates intervened, apologizing to the D class members and appeasing Mr. Majima. You can't win if you fight now, so you have to endure.

Let's go!"

"I don't think they'll stop provoking if we don't get stronger as soon as possible."

I pity him a little because he is one of the people who has taken the initiative to strengthen the E class. There are some strong people here as well, but at this stage, they don't appear on the stage. I also don't want to stand out with a stupid stunt, and I don't want people to know that I have dungeon knowledge.

But why are they agitating the E-Class like this?

I feel that not only Kariya but the entire D class is trying to trick us. If you're aiming for the top, you shouldn't be worrying about the bottom. I wonder if they have some kind of goal.

How was the Kariya event when it was a game?

The main story is basically told only from the point of view of the main character, Akagi, or Pink-chan, and the characters not involved in the story and their backgrounds are often left out. Kariya is also treated as a mid-boss in the beginning of the game, and after defeating him, I don't think he appeared in the game anymore. ......

I skipped most of the early conversations in Adventure Mode, and I didn't need to remember the backstory of the soon to be defeated mid-boss. If I'd known it was going to be like this, I would have read it thoroughly, but ...... was too late.

In any case, there must be a reason why the E-Class is so incendiary, so I'll try to find out when I have more time after the Kariya event.

 *...*...*...*...*...*

 And after school.

There was a tense atmosphere in the class.

"Hey Akagi! And all the small fry in class E! Gather at arena number four!"

The moment homeroom teacher Murai announced the end of homeroom, Kariya's cronies rushed in. The teacher is there, but says nothing and leaves the classroom as if to declare that he has nothing to do with it. I'm not sure if he thinks this is part of his education or not.

Akagi silently took the cloth bag containing the weapons and left the classroom with his chest outstretched and his feet steady. It's a good thing that the students of class E can take a dignified attitude in such situations.

"Good luck, Akagi-kun."

"I'll be there to watch!

"Let's take out D class!

I'll be there to see it!" "Let's take out D class!" Classmates began to move into the arena, one after another. I'm sure you'll be fine," they say to each other. I know you're hoping for the best, but to be honest, the odds look pretty bad.

So, I'm going to visit room 4 of the arena, too.

The arena is naturally located entirely within the magic field, and the facility itself is durable enough to be physically enhanced. The inside is divided into areas 1 to 4, with room 1 being the largest and room 4 being the smallest, with enough space for dozens of people to practice. The first room is the largest, and even the smaller fourth room is large enough for dozens of people to practice. It is a full-fledged training arena, where magic stones can be used to put up a magic defense shield.

This arena is usually used by many club activities as a training ground, and it is strange that even room 4 can be reserved after school for a lower class duel. In the game, there is the head of class B behind you. ...... I've forgotten.

"You've come a long way without running away, Akagi.

"I'm not going to run ."

The two of them face each other in the center of the arena. Kariya, the bigger of the two, looks down at Akagi and glares at him
Akagi isn't too short, but the difference in body size is clear compared to Kariya, who is over 190 cm.

"Kariya, get rid of the E-Class!"

"Let him know what he's getting into, Mr. Kariya!"

I was annoyed by the noise from the outside world. I thought Kariya had a bad physique and was always trying to scare the people around him, but he's surprisingly popular with the students in D class.I wonder if there's a setting where he's actually as caring as Jiao-an.

In the meantime, Akagi is looking at Kariya with a cool face, seemingly unaffected by the taunts and provocations from D class. You seem cool as ice , but are you sure about your level?

As I found out when I dove into the dungeon, I realized that it's tough to approach Kariya's level in the past month, and therefore it's also difficult to defeat him in a straightforward manner. If you're a Dun-Ex player, you're familiar with Kariya's fighting style and have countermeasures, but if you're not, Akagi-kun, do you have a plan?

After the standoff was over, they returned to their respective positions to put on their protective gear.

Kariya takes off his school uniform to change into his protective gear. Kariya is not only tall, but also has a body that makes it hard to believe that he has just entered high school. From the muscles around his neck and shoulders, it is clear that he has been training hard in addition to strengthening his body.

He is going to wear a leather armor with metal plates attached everywhere. It may weigh over 20 kilograms, but if you're over level 10 and you're limited to a small arena, you should have no problem getting around.

The weapon I took out was a two-handed greatsword called the Two-Handed Sword. It weighed more than 10 kilograms and was about 1.5 meters long. If you combine the length of the arm with the step, the maximum reach of the sword would be over three meters. You have to be careful to determine the range of your attack.

On the other hand, Akagi-kun is wearing a black demon wolf light armor. It is strong, light, and inexpensive for a dungeon material, making it very popular. The belly part is reinforced with metal to protect the internal organs. The weapon that is taken out from the cloth bag is .......

(I knew it was going to use the same tactics as the [static sword]...... game.)

What Akagi took out was a thin, sharp sword. It is a single-edged straight sword, also known as a backsword, and looks like a slightly wider version of a rapier blade. The blade is said to be crushed, but the tip is sharp, and if you use it with your enhanced strength, it will do some damage.

The problem is that it's not just a sword, it's a magic weapon.

The [Static Sword] doesn't have a high attack power, but it has the effect of lowering the AGI of the attacker and adding a certain percentage of paralysis. Of course, since it is a weapon for the early stages, it won't work if the opponent's level is high, but it will work well against a level 11 Kariya. This weapon can be obtained by completing the main character's sub-event.

In the game, Kariya uses a large swinging motion sword skill called "Slash", so countering it is the key to success. However, if there is a level gap between the two, it is difficult to even exploit that gap, so using a weapon with reduced AGI and paralysis has become the standard strategy.

AGI is an important parameter that affects not only movement speed but also normal attack motion and skill activation speed. If you can lower Kariya's AGI by hitting him with that sword, or if you can successfully paralyze him, it will be easier to use the "Slash" counter, and the difficulty of attacking Kariya will decrease dramatically.

 However--

(You'll have to take a rather troublesome detour to trigger the event to get that sword. ...... Did someone put this in your head?)

If you know the existence of the sword from the beginning, it's easy to trigger the event to get it in order to defeat Kariya, but if you don't know, it's not so easy to get it. In fact, defeating Kariya with that sword was originally a secret technique.

In the game, the usual way to defeat Kariya is to actually fight him a few times, realize how difficult it is to defeat him in the first month and how low your level is, and then defeat him head-on through trial and error while raising your level efficiently.

In contrast, the tactic of using the Static Sword was developed as a way to defeat Kariya without having to raise your level much. If you don't know what a Kariya battle is like, it must be difficult to come up with.

Of course, it's also possible that he got it by chance through an event. And based on the analysis that Kariya is a big sword user, there is no possibility that he decided that the [Static Sword] tactic of lowering AGI would be effective in increasing the success rate of the counter.

But if obtaining it is inevitable. That means that the shadow of the "Dun Ex player" will flicker behind you, Akagi. ...... Am I thinking too much?

The two of them face each other in the middle of the arena, both with their armor on and weapons in hand. The rules are safe, no killing. Surrender is allowed. If you faint, you lose.

As this is an official duel, a member of the student council and a [Priest] teacher accompany them in case they are injured. It also seems that some people from classes other than D and E have come to observe.

All of my classmates are watching with bated breath.

"......, are you ready then?"

"I'm ready when you are."

The Kariya event is about to begin.

TL Note- I Once again thank Tria for making this sponsored Chapter possible and comment if you think Akagi or someone close to him is a player.
