Chapter 29-Brother's dignity

{SPONSORED CHAPTER-1}

"Yay, I'm up! Am I now at level 7?"

After dropping the bridge three times, I reached my sister's target level of seven, so we finished the fifth floor for now. We could have stayed here until level 8, but it would be more efficient for the two of us to move on to the next hunting ground. We descended to the bottom of the valley and picked up the dropped items while explaining our plans for the future.

"First of all, there's a demon wolf called the Warg on the sixth floor. The leather armor that Hanano and I are wearing is made by a werewolf, but it's that werewolf.

"A wolf, right? I think it's easier to fight than Orcs."

"It's bigger and faster, so it's more troublesome than Orcs."

Demon wolves are fast, have good endurance, and have a good nose, so they can detect you from a distance with their sense of smell. It's important to prevent being surrounded in a situation when fighting a demon wolf. Once you are surrounded, it is difficult to escape. However, the MAP on the 6th floor has almost no open space, so you won't be surrounded that often.

In addition, werewolves drop their skins at a low rate along with demon stones, but these werewolf skins are tough and fireproof, and can be a good source of income if sold to stores or guilds. The werewolf is a popular monster among adventurers. It is said that this is the minimum level for a full-time job.

However, we decided to skip the 6th floor and head for the 7th floor.

The monsters that appear on the seventh floor are still demon wolves, but they are one level higher than the demon wolves on the sixth floor, which are seven. In addition, a monster level 8 werewolf leader rarely pops up. This monster has the "Howl" skill to attract nearby werewolves, so it's a monster that should be stopped first in case of battle.

The Orc Tamer that accompanies these werewolves and uses them as horsemen also pops up on the seventh floor. In addition to the bite of the werewolves, the Orcs ride and attack with their swords, making them tougher than the werewolves alone. The presence of Orc Tamers increases the group combat power of the werewolves, so if you have multiple werewolves with you, defeating them is a higher priority than defeating the werewolf leader.

In addition, the majority of the 7th floor is a forest MAP with poor visibility and the risk of being surrounded, so if your goal is to collect werewolf skins, it's probably better to simply hunt on the 6th floor.

However, there are good reasons to go to the 7th floor.

"Let's just go to the seventh floor and try to fight a demon wolf."

"If I'm going to hunt werewolves, I want to collect skins and make lower body armor..."

If you can hunt on the 7th floor without forcing yourself to collect skins, you should be able to earn enough money to buy magic stones and drop items. Besides.

"Let's just try the werewolf, there's a place on the seventh floor I want to check out. Hidden MAP."

"Is there such a place?"

"Yeah. Maybe it's an area no one's ever been to before."

Her eyes lit up, "I wonder if there's any treasure there? I'm not going to sing that song. Don't sing that song, it's embarrassing.

We picked up some items while talking about such trivial things, crossed a few suspension bridges, and joined the main street on the fifth floor.

Let's move on to the sixth floor first.

 *...*...*...*...*...*

As usual, the main street leading to the next floor is crowded with people, and many adventurers aiming for the sixth floor and above are hunting werewolves, so their black armor stands out.

"Everyone is wearing werewolf armor. I feel like I've joined the ranks of the powerful. It's only my second time in the dungeon, but ......"

"It's because the train boosted it all up."

It was quite delicious to be able to monopolize the Orc Lord. If not, I would have spent a lot more time on the fifth floor.

If the other players were there, would they not take advantage of the bridge drop? I don't know if they've already gone deeper, or if they just haven't reached it yet, but in the end, I didn't see anyone who looked like that once.

After walking for about half an hour, we arrived at the 6th floor entrance plaza, which was just as crowded with adventurers as the 5th floor, with stalls, stores, and a place to buy magic stones and drops. Up until the fifth floor, it was common to see a party with all members in the vanguard, but from this floor onward, I often saw parties with rearguards who could attack from a distance with bows or magic, as well as recovery personnel. There are no more adventurers who look like beginners.

"Ah! They sell takoyaki! There's a cafeteria over there!"

" We'll be passing through the sixth floor, but we'll have a quick bite to eat before we go to ....... What do you want to eat?"

This is the first time I've been to the entrance hall of a hierarchy since my sister used the gate last time and this time too. It may be unusual for her to have never entered from a dungeon entrance before. I picked up some takoyaki from a stall because I heard that they wanted to eat takoyaki, finished using the restroom, and headed for the seventh floor.

"What do toilets do with the ...... pumped up ......?""

"The dungeon absorbs it if you leave it there for half a day. You don't need to pump it up. You can do it there too in an emergency."

"I don't think a lady can do that!"

She puffed out her cheeks in protest, saying to herself, "No lady can do that!" Normally, communication devices and resting facilities would be absorbed by the dungeon, but the invention of a magical tool using the nucleus of a low-grade golem has made it possible to resist absorption. It seems that until this was discovered, only simple facilities could be built in the dungeon.

We headed for the seventh floor, rambling on about the dungeon's illustrated book in the Adventurer's Guild library.

Since most of the parties hunting for werewolf skins use the sixth floor as their hunting ground, the number of adventurers walking from the main street on this floor is reduced. We could probably run.

"We're wasting time, so we'll go for a short run."

"What? We've just eaten~"

I reluctantly agreed and started to run here and there. There were several other parties running as well, so we didn't stand out. It's refreshing to be able to run at a very high speed, even if it's just a light run due to the strengthening of your body.

 *...*...*...*...*...*

"I'm on the 7th floor!...... Huh? There aren't as many stores as on the sixth floor.

"All the werewolf hunting parties hunt on the sixth floor, so there are fewer adventurers on this floor."

Although there are fewer shops, there are still some stalls and resting places. However, the prices are all double the normal prices. A bottle of canned juice costs around 300 yen, but judging by the empty cans in the trash cans, I'm surprised it's selling so well.

It's really expensive, isn't it? ...... No, can't we use this? I was about to move on when I thought to myself.

I was thinking, "Let's take a break. Oh! I want to see the store over there!"

"There might be some treasures in the hidden map."

"What?...... Well, it can't be helped then!

If you're a cash-strapped sister, fish for treasure. This is what I wrote in my sister's manual and headed to the point of the hidden map.

There are countless huge coniferous forests growing in this area and the visibility is very poor. If you cut this tree down, it will disappear and cannot be used as wood. The ceiling was high enough to look up at, glowing vaguely pale. I wonder if it is possible to photosynthesize in that kind of light. ...... No, this is not a plant, but an object, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Within a few minutes of turning off from the main street to the eighth floor, we found a demon wolf. It was about two meters long, including its tail, covered in long dark gray body hair and had a sturdy frame. The eyes that stared at us showed intelligence.

"It's not likely that you'll be able to get baxter from this guy, his footsteps and smell will alert you before you know it."

"It's coming!"

The only opponent is a single demon wolf. It's a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for it. The first attack seemed to be aimed at my sister, and she jumped at me from a few meters in front of me, trying to sink her fangs into my neck. She dodged without difficulty, and as she passed him, she thrust her small sword into the side of the werewolf and slashed it open. The werewolf cried out, "Caun! He squealed and tried to run away, but he couldn't seem to get up, so I quickly closed in on him and stopped him, and he became a magic stone.

"I'm sure I can manage just one demon wolf. His movements looked really good."

"I raised the level all at once, but it doesn't seem to be a problem."

Even if you're a junior high school girl, physical enhancement through leveling up is equal for everyone, and my sister's muscle strength, instantaneous power, and kinetic vision already exceeds that of the average male by a comfortable margin.

The other problem was her sense of combat, but it seemed that there was nothing to worry about. She was not unaccustomed to the sudden physical strengthening, nor did she show any signs of being frightened of battle. Even now, she is holding two small swords in her hands as she slices through the shadows.

Maybe she's a battle fanatic. And that shadow isn't Onii-chan, is it? I picked up the Demon Wolf's Demon Stone and continued to move in the southeast direction of the MAP.

The destination is an area that was added in the latest DLC called "Dungeon Explorer Chronicles: Golem's Heartbeat". If it existed, it could be a new guideline in dungeon exploration.

In the time I don't encounter enemies, I try to explain a few things to my sister to increase her game knowledge and dungeon information.

"Golem?"

"Yes, if you become an armorer, you can create and operate golems.

"What?

Even before the implementation of the DLC "Golem's Heartbeat," information about the [Armorer] was released in small doses and attracted a lot of attention. Many players were waiting for the implementation date because they could board the flashy golems. ...... However, when it was implemented, it was an unfortunate advanced job that was criticized for being weak and useless.

The first reason for this is that the golem's combat power is too subtle.

There are a lot of monsters in Dan-Eku that have their physical attacks halved or disabled, so the Golem's use is basically limited to physical attacks.

And it moves too slow. You can use it as a vehicle if you board it, but its movement speed is not that fast, and it's faster to run by yourself. When it was a game, you didn't need a vehicle because you didn't get tired from running.

Finally, the [Armorer] can use the [Golem Castle] skill to build golem structures in dangerous areas. The effect is a tripling of HP and MP recovery speed. Recovery from all conditions. If you stay in the castle for more than an hour, you can temporarily gain a 5% bonus to STR and INT.

I honestly didn't need such skills in the game. Since I was guzzling potions, I didn't want to build a base to recover HP and MP, and I didn't need to stay in the danger zone. Electricity, water, a refrigerator, a bath, a toilet, and a soft bed were all included in the game, but they were nothing more than decorations. ......

 But! But!

If this is the real world, the value is reversed, and it is so high that it will soar to the sky. "It's like, "If I have this, I can dive into a dungeon without going home. No, in fact, you can live in it. I want at least a "Golem Castle". ...... I want it too much!

So I told my sister about the outline of [Armored Man] and that I'm going to investigate it from now on.

"I'm sure you need that skill."

"Right,So I'm going to go check out if I can get that job or not. If there's a hidden map, it'll be a good leveling point."

The DLC "Golem's Heartbeat" not only brought new jobs and maps, but also added a number of golems as monsters.

Golems are activated by energy from a crystal core in the shape of a 10cm doll. The core of some golems in the deeper levels is protected by magical steel, but the golem on the seventh floor has a bare core, so it can be easily defeated by attacking it. Since it has a clear weakness, it's a good monster for leveling up. When defeated, it drops a nucleus, which can be used as a catalyst for the [Armorer] to summon the golem, and can also be sold at the Dungeon Store.

There are a number of MAPs added by the DLC, but the shallowest of them all is here on the 7th floor. In other words, there was no way to find out if the DLC had been implemented until we got here.

"There's a pit at the end of this one, and if there's a side hole at the bottom, that should be the hidden area.

"Oh!"

There's a small hill in the forest. You can find a lot more than five meters to the bottom of the pit. The bottom of the pit looks to be at least five meters deep, so you'll have to climb down to find out if there are any side holes.

"I've got a rope. You can tie it to the tree there."

I took the climbing rope out of my backpack and tied it to a nearby tree. I pulled on it to make sure it was secured properly. It looked okay.

"Can I go check it out?

"Sure. Let me know if the hole goes all the way down."

"Yes, sir."

Without hesitation, Hanano rappelled down to the bottom as the Self-Defense Force would do, and checked to see if there was a side hole. I'm not sure if there are any, but if there aren't, let's go around here.

"Hmm? There it is! Onii, there's a side hole!

"Okay, I'm coming down too!"

As I was about to go down, I heard a howl in the distance. This howling sounded like a demon wolf leader. A normal demon wolf would not have howled like this. I wonder if someone is fighting nearby. Well, let's ignore it for now.

I rappelled down the pit as well, but perhaps because of my heavy weight, I slipped and fell off my ass with about two meters to go. I was relieved to see that my sister was so absorbed in the pit that she didn't see me, and that my brother's dignity was preserved.

"Damn it. Onii is a screw-up, so be careful."

It appears that I was being watched closely.

  1. Is MC a special kind of stupid? Why would he send his little sister rapelling down a bottomless pit? just to check a hole that he wasnt sure was going to be there? You know a monster could also just "drop" his little sister like what he did to the orcs but it probably wont be happening because this could very well be a mary sue story based on what i read thus far
