Super Mothership
“This is the worst possible situation…”
Isabel frowned slightly as she looked at her side’s slightly disordered formation.
Although previous intelligence had already indicated that the enemy possessed particularly unique communication technology—and she had even considered the possibility that they might also have quantum communication interference capabilities to counter them—it still gave Isabel a major headache now that it was actually happening.
This wasn’t some conspiracy or trickery—it was a solid, undeniable technological advantage.
Based on intelligence gathered from earlier battles, it was highly likely that the enemy mecha army before them, belonging to the Unity of All Things, was entirely composed of drones. Whether it was the small robots from Callisto (Jupiter's moon) or the massive mechas before her now, the enemy seemed especially skilled in using long-range control technology to operate a massive number of drones in combat.
And even more astonishing, the flexibility of their control was almost indistinguishable from human-piloted machines.
Her own warriors were fighting to the death, but what they were facing was an unmanned steel army. They couldn’t even cause the enemy any personnel casualties...
Such a situation was undoubtedly a huge blow to morale.
“Still no progress in cracking the enemy’s communication methods?” Isabel turned to look at her adjutant.
“I’m terribly sorry, Your Excellency. Our technicians conducted a systematic analysis of the enemy’s wreckage, but just like the Callisto War that Alsace faced, we’ve come up empty-handed. There isn’t even a communication module for us to analyze…
What’s even stranger is that every single control chip inside the wreckage has vanished, as if it simply evaporated.
The technicians believe this is likely a type of encryption technology we currently have no means of deciphering. Its origin is most likely the Ant Empire on the other side—or perhaps another alien civilization trading with the Unity of All Things…” the adjutant said helplessly.
“Sigh…” Isabel could only let out a long sigh.
It seemed that, at least in the short term, they had no hope of unraveling the enemy’s communication secrets…
What a shame—if the Unity of All Things were willing to share such technology with the Gemini civilization, their military strength would undergo a qualitative leap!
Merchants have no loyalty to nations, huh!
Just as Isabel mentally branded the Unity’s merchants with a dark label, her adjutant reported enemy fleet movement...
Ten minutes later, the vanguard air forces of both sides gradually entered firing range. Just then, Nie Yun’s “Mithril Fleet” began to move.
“I’ll form the head!”
A strange voice-over suddenly echoed within the Earth fleet, sounding like some bizarre background music…
Next, five “Hou Yi-class” frigates slowly began to form a pentagram formation and approached the Sea Wolf. At the same time, five “tentacles” of the Sea Wolf stretched outward in five straight directions, connecting slowly with each approaching Hou Yi-class ship...
“Click!” With a light mechanical locking sound, the Sea Wolf connected with the reserved rear-wing interface of each Hou Yi-class frigate, forming a bizarre pentagram-shaped composite unit.
“Psshh~” The attitude control thrusters on the sides of the five Hou Yi-class ships began firing in sequence, slowly rotating the pentagram.
“Zzzzt!” A surge of power erupted from the Sea Wolf’s crystal energy core, transmitting through the connectors and instantly channeling into one of the front Hou Yi-class ships.
That ship’s gamma-ray main cannon began to glow with the telltale light of energy charging...
In the next instant—BOOM!
A massive gray beam extended from the cannon’s muzzle and tore forward through the mecha army of the sea clans!
The high-energy gamma beam caused all nearby mechas and drones within a hundred-meter radius to swell irregularly, then explode instantly into fiery fragments!
Boom boom boom…! The energy trail left behind a spectacular trail of explosions.
Even the small-scale shields mounted on the mechas, when fully powered, lasted less than a second before overloading.
Any aircraft directly hit by the beam was utterly vaporized, reduced to particles and dust!
This single main cannon blast destroyed dozens of mechas and drones before exceeding its maximum range—but the residual radiation still caused radiation spikes around the sea clan fleet in the rear.
Although the beam no longer posed a direct threat to Isabel’s own fleet, the sheer shockwave of destruction left the enemy stunned, their charge temporarily halted.
Originally, against the Longevists’ fortress cannon and the gamma cannons of the Hou Yi-class, Isabel’s side was already disadvantaged in range and firepower.
But now, with this new enhanced gamma ray weapon—over three times more powerful than the original version—the entire battlefield was shaken.
Next, as the pentagram rotated, the first Hou Yi-class frigate exited the firing position to cool down, while the second frigate moved into position.
BOOM! Less than ten seconds later, another super gamma ray was fired—cutting yet another path of death through the sea clan ranks.
What followed was a monstrous battleship behaving like a "revolving death revolver"—as the structure slowly rotated, the five Hou Yi-class frigates, powered up by the Sea Wolf, fired in sequence at an incredibly high frequency, unleashing beam after beam of deadly light!
“A modular battleship!” Isabel's expression changed in shock upon witnessing this scene.
So this was how the enemy bypassed the Solar System’s restriction on deploying large warships.
No wonder that spherical warship didn’t seem to be designed for combat—it was actually the central hub of a modular battleship!
Exactly—Sea Wolf formed the “head,” serving as the energy core, while the five Hou Yi-class ships acted as turret batteries. This was a special modular warship Nie Yun had specifically designed to deploy large-scale weaponry.
Sea Wolf was essentially an “energy amplifier,” boosting the main cannons of the Hou Yi-class ships. With material enhancements from the mechanical bugs, the range even surpassed that of the Longevists’ fortress cannons.
This six-in-one “Mech-Bug Hercules” instantly became Nie Yun’s second heavy artillery platform, and its firepower output was nearly on par with the Longevists’ fortress.
The relentless explosions lit up the black void and relentlessly pounded the nerves of the sea clan warriors…
Yes—Nie Yun’s first shot was deliberate. Not at the cautious, not at the idle—only at the careless sea clan units!
The Longevist Fortress soon followed up with another barrage, targeting the same forces. In a matter of moments, a rain of light and fire was unleashed upon the sea clan troops, sweeping through them in a storm of death.
The sea clan fleet—already down by one-third—was dumbstruck to find themselves once again the enemy’s first target. They were so aggrieved they could nearly cough up blood.
What the hell? Even bullying the honest ones shouldn’t be this blatant!
They had deliberately slowed their attack pace to appear less threatening—and yet they still ended up as the scapegoats?
Even in a roll call for cannon fodder, we wouldn’t be picked this often!
Discrimination! This is absolutely racial discrimination!
The sea clan officers, already low on morale, were now seething with resentment. They had no intention of taking all the hits while the Feathered Race sat untouched.
With silent approval from their commanders, they reduced their speeds, and their mecha army began to spread out, trying to avoid the enemy's brutal focus fire.
This tactic did reduce their own losses, but it also weakened the offensive—and the pressure naturally shifted to the Feathered Race.
Isabel noticed this immediately and issued strict orders for the sea clan to maintain formation and coordination. But the sea clan commanders brushed it off, citing heavy enemy firepower, poor communication, and chaotic command.
Frustrated, Isabel could only order the Feathered Race fleet to accelerate, hoping to bring their forces into range and end the one-sided beating.
Although the enemy firepower was currently focused on the sea clan, Isabel wasn’t at ease at all.
This was just like a street brawl—a two-on-one advantage, but the enemy had picked the weaker side first and was mercilessly beating them down. And once that unfortunate ally was down, it would definitely be her turn next—and likely even worse.
Nie Yun took advantage of the situation and played a time gap tactic. The Feathered Race's mecha and drone armies were the first to engage the Earth forces. What awaited them: nearly a thousand "Sword Immortal" mechas—and the former Sea Clan flagship!
Nie Yun didn't let the flagship attack its own people, but rather deliberately assigned it to fight the Feathered Race.
As a destroyer-class warship, the sea clan flagship served as the combat core for the Earth forces. It was heavily protected by a swarm of mechas, forming a coordinated war formation of ship and armor.
Facing the oncoming Feathered air forces, the sea clan flagship opened full firepower. Nearly a hundred naval cannons roared, taking down over a hundred enemy units in the first salvo and breaking up part of the enemy’s formation.
Then began the long-range firefight between both sides’ mechas and fighters.
Although not as powerful as the main guns, the sheer volume of energy beams—thousands of them—crisscrossed in the battlefield, stirring up waves of explosions and light.
The Feathered fleet soon joined in, launching waves of beams and offering long-range support fire, inflicting considerable losses on the Earth forces as well.
At the center of the battlefield, as both sides’ aerial units engaged in close combat, the entire zone descended into utter chaos…
In the rear, members of the Earth Defense Forces watched with growing fear. Nearly ten thousand mechas and drones clashed in vacuum warfare, and over a hundred warships poured out relentless firepower.
The floating guns of the Sword Immortal mechas zipped through space, lashing out lasers. The Gemini civilization’s Raider-type mechas clashed directly with the Earth troops, holding the line against fierce assaults, while the enemy drones, agile and evasive, darted through the battle, escalating the chaos.
Explosions erupted everywhere. Stray shots flew in all directions. Debris from destroyed units scattered like a rainstorm.
This kind of grand and brutal space battle was something the troops had never seen in their entire lives.
Initially, three of Earth’s smaller ships had intended to rush in and show off—but now they wisely kept to the rear, playing the role of backup fire support, and maybe doing some combat recording on the side…
This high-level battlefield was absolutely not something low-ranking players should be meddling with.
Just tossing a tiny fireball from the back and getting a “-1, -1…” pop-up was the realistic damage output for a rookie tagging along for a level grind…
