Super Mothership
Staring at the now-closed communication interface, Isabel remained silent for a long time. The bridge was deathly quiet.
A high-ranking military officer at the level of a legion commander had actually defected and joined the enemy, even stabbing them in the back at such a critical moment. If one hadn’t witnessed it firsthand, who would believe such a thing?
Everyone was stunned into silence.
Isabel frowned deeply. She still couldn't determine whether the Gustav on the other end was real or fake. But if the conversation between the two of them today were to be leaked, it would undoubtedly cause a huge uproar within the military.
It would be a massive blow to the military’s credibility, and Gustav’s faction would definitely be implicated.
The resulting upheaval might even trigger mutual suspicion within the military ranks.
If the enemy could buy off one Gustav, who’s to say they couldn’t buy off a second?
But for now, these weren't the issues she needed to worry about.
What she urgently needed to deal with was… how to clean up the mess Gustav had left behind in the star system?
On the surface, the Twin Star Alliance still held the overall advantage in terms of military strength. As long as Isabel could successfully take over the remaining two fleets of the Sea Tribe, she could theoretically crush the enemy through sheer force.
But she didn’t believe the enemy would go to such lengths without having a backup plan.
As the top commander, how many spies had Gustav planted within the Sea Tribe fleet?
Would someone else stab her in the back at a critical moment?
In this situation, should she even use the Sea Tribe fleet—or not?
She couldn’t even tell whether what the enemy had left behind was simply a mess—or a complete dead end.
If she committed the Feather Tribe fleet as well, would there be any chance of retreating safely?
If Gustav had died in battle or had been captured, at worst it would have caused short-term internal confusion. With proper wartime emergency protocols, Ishar could have smoothly taken over command of the Sea Tribe fleet and filled the vacuum Gustav left behind.
But with Gustav openly defecting, even the allegiance of the entire Sea Tribe fleet became uncertain—leaving Ishar hesitant and apprehensive.
Even though the Sea Tribe fleet had suffered heavy losses and its flagship had joined the enemy, the remaining forces still posed a significant threat. Yet now, they felt like a tasteless chicken rib—too bland to enjoy, yet too wasteful to throw away.
This was exactly the true purpose behind Nie Yun’s carefully scripted ploy—posing as Gustav to engage in this conversation with Ishar.
A “traitorous” Gustav had a very different impact on the Twin Star military compared to a “fallen hero” Gustav.
The former would plunge the opposing side into chaos, while the latter might only rally them in unity—perhaps even triggering a “fanatic” or “bloodthirsty” kind of morale-boosting buff.
In fact, after publicly revealing “Gustav’s” betrayal, Nie Yun had already begun spreading various disruptive messages within the Sea Tribe forces—intending to sabotage Isabel’s takeover of the fleet’s command.
But at this moment, Isabel naturally had no way of knowing that.
“Commander Isabel, we’ve detected a massive object entering the planetary orbit of Kara. It has rendezvoused with the Sea Tribe’s flagship and is accelerating toward the inner star!” a military officer reported to Isabel.
This report made Isabel’s frown deepen.
If the hidden dangers within the Sea Tribe fleet were already an internal concern, then the external threat was becoming increasingly serious as well.
The depth of the All Becomes One Society’s operations in the solar system had exceeded Isabel’s expectations—their forces were still pouring continuously through the wormhole.
And now, even Kara—supposedly a secure rear stronghold—had encountered a major crisis!
For the enemy to risk exposing Gustav, their trump card, at this critical moment, it was clearly the final reveal of their true intentions. And that intent… was undoubtedly to clear a path for the biological fortress.
Wormhole invasion, the sudden appearance of the biological fortress on Kara, and now Gustav’s open betrayal…
Every move made by the All Becomes One Society was revolving around a single strategic objective: to launch the secret biological fortress constructed on Kara into space and send it to the frontline battlefield in the neighboring star system.
They were willing to commit such a vast amount of power—even at the cost of revealing Gustav—just to break through the blockade and escort the biological fortress into space. Clearly, its importance to the All Becomes One Society was extraordinary.
There was a very high possibility that this fortress contained a cosmic treasure capable of producing the Water of Life.
Isabel, true to her meticulous nature, was able to piece together Nie Yun’s plan and the sequence of events from the scattered clues on the battlefield.
And from the enemy’s all-or-nothing attitude, she clearly sensed the All Becomes One Society's determination to fight this battle to the bitter end.
If the Twin Star forces won this battle, the All Becomes One Society would have played all their cards, suffering severe losses, and the neighboring star system would fall firmly under Twin Star control.
But… if the All Becomes One Society emerged victorious, unless Twin Star was willing to continue sending large-scale expeditionary forces at great cost, the tide of the war might very well reverse.
Isabel quickly analyzed the stakes involved.
It was clear now—this wasn’t a minor skirmish, but a full-blown battle for control of the neighboring star system!
“Order: Immediately announce Gustav’s betrayal to the entire military. I now officially assume command of the Sea Tribe fleet as the Supreme Commander of the Vanguard Legion. Anyone who disobeys will be treated as a traitor!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Isabel’s first order was to seize control of the Sea Tribe fleet. No matter how capable Gustav was, there was no way he could drag the entire fleet into the All Becomes One Society. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have needed to eliminate his own escort ships.
Even if this force was a potential threat, it was still one she had to fight to claim!
“Order the Third Subfleet under Alsace to remain and defend the spaceport. All other fleets are to immediately mobilize and follow my flagship to Kara to destroy the enemy’s biological fortress!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
With a string of decisive orders, the Feather Tribe fleet sprang into action. A large number of warships departed from the spaceport and began to form up...
The Second Planet Spaceport was the main base of the Twin Star Alliance—a vital logistics hub and supply depot.
Isabel, undistracted by the looming crisis, remained calm. She knew the strategic stronghold of Twin Star must not fall.
Leaving behind the Third Subfleet was essentially deploying a heavy guard. With the spaceport’s defensive installations combined with a full subfleet, it would be nearly impregnable.
Alsace’s Third Subfleet had only recently been established and lacked combat experience, but Isabel’s decision was based on maximizing combat effectiveness and was, in itself, not unreasonable.
However, on the other side, upon receiving this news, Nie Yun couldn’t help but laugh.
Leave the Third Subfleet to guard the spaceport?
How was that any different from throwing a weasel into a henhouse?
If the Third Subfleet defected at this moment, Nie Yun could practically guarantee victory in advance—cutting off the roots and delivering a fatal blow to the Twin Star military!
But after some thought, Nie Yun decided to give up on this extremely tempting plan.
After this battle, “Gustav” would no longer be of much use. Playing this card now had already achieved maximum value. However, “Alsace” was different—his identity still held immense long-term strategic value and absolutely could not be exposed lightly.
Still, even if he couldn’t trigger a massive “subfleet-level” defection, using this opportunity to carry out a large-scale internal “purge” of the spaceport was just the opportunity he had been waiting for.
A frontal assault was a last resort—stealthily capturing the tower was the true path to victory…
